theBalm Girls Lipstick Review: Anita Boytoy

I have been eyeing up products from theBalm for such a long time, and at last I've gotten to try one of their lipsticks. Now the wrong colour was picked up by accident (ahem yes I do wear glasses), but I thought this is the year for trying things out of my comfort zone. So meet theBalm Girls Lipstick in the shade "Anita Boytoy" (€15.50).

First of the packaging is gorgeous, with the sleek silver bullet and outer packaging showing us pinup Anita Boytoy with James Balm (My name's Balm, James Balm haha, I'll get my coat) it's hard to resist the vintage feel of the products from theBalm.

Now onto the lipstick itself. It has a vanilla mint fragrance that once applied will leave that tingling minty sensation on your lips. The shade itself was a shocker for me, it's a frosty pink shade that has plenty of shimmer that Barbie would be proud of. The shade pulls purplish on my lips and I noticed unfortunately that this seems to ages my lips. This shade is not for me. Pigmentation wasn't there on one swipe so two layers was best to get an even application.

I also noticed was that on first application when bought it felt rough when applied but after that I could feel the creaminess trying to come through. The wear time on this on average was about 3 hours for me and that was before I even had food or drink.

I haven't given up hope with these lipsticks and I'd like to get Mia Moore next which is a blue toned red, without the frostiness to it.

Have you tried any of the lip products from theBalm before? Let me know what you tried in the comments below.

    1. I kinda get away with it if I bronze up a bit so the colour on my lips has a bit on contrast. I just didn't like the frost finish and how it sat on my lips unfortunately :(
