#SmallChanges with Optiwell Yogurt Drink

Okay hands up, who loves the biscuit with the first cup of tea in the morning? Do you have one with your second, third cup of the day, and don't forget the bar of chocolate in between....No? Well I did, but now that's changed with Optiwell Yogurt Drink. When they contacted me a few months ago I really wanted to try it to see if it could get me out of a really bad habit especially at a time I needed to kick the snacking habit.

New Optiwell Yogurt Drink

I started drinking these when Lillibug was in hospital back in January, and I was grabbing the 330ml small bottles from the fridge before heading back to the hospital. It was better than snacking on biscuits and chocolates, and I found that these kept me going for longer. The Optiwell yogurt drink was refreshing and tasty and even Lillibug loves them now. The yogurt drinks come in 330ml bottles (€1.99) for easy on the go drinks or the 1 litre (€2.79) cartons. You have a choice of the Strawberry & Raspberry flavour which is our favourite, or the Peach & Apricot.

New Optiwell Yogurt Drink

The drink has become a fixture at our table in the mornings with breakfast, and in Lillibugs lunchbox for school. Each serving of 200ml contain 64 calories, fat free, full of dairy goodness, no added sugars. Optiwell naturally contains calcium and is high in protein, which helps to maintain bones and muscles. It contains no artificial preservatives

New Optiwell Yogurt Drink

Holly Willoughby is the brand ambassador for Optiwell, something that really made me relate to the new yogurt drink, as she is a busy mum with kids too (albeit I've only 1 child). Since starting the drink, my energy levels are better now in the mornings, I don't look for crap food to snack anymore which is the small change that I really wanted to make to my lifestyle.

Optiwell is available from Dunnes, SuperValu, Tesco and Spar.

Bookawoo Opening Kids to a World of Imagination

I have been so excited to review Lillibug's Bookawoo delivery since it arrived at the door! First I'll begin by saying that I came across Bookawoo Monthly Children's Book Subscription on Twitter a few months ago. When we started chatting they offered to send me the first box for free, and of course I said yes. We are book mad in this house and Lillibug treasures books as much as we do.

Even the postman that delivered it was asking me about it saying the packaging caught his attention! It certainly caught my attention, because even though addressed to me, on the other side it was personlised for Lillibug which I thought was a lovely touch. I was surprised by the box as it's not what you see on their website so it got me even more intrigued. I waited until Lillibug finished school so she could be the one to open it........

When she opened the box it was once again personlised with a quote from Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka (yes I'm a sucker for personlisation, but it just shows the thought that went into this box). Once you peel back the tissue paper and bubble wrap at the sides you are greeted with the "treasure" as Lillibug said....

So inside there were 4 beautiful books of the highest quality tailored to Lillibug's age group. Three of the books were hardback and one paperback. Also a personlised bookmark and personlised stickers (see, there we go again with the personlisation! They keep reeling me in).

It was wonderful to see that an Easter book was included with Easter coming up shortly and this has been Lillibug's go to book at the moment as she can find eggs behind little hidden flaps. I found her yesterday reading "The River: The Epic Journey to the Sea" and tonight we will move on to one of the other books from the box.

The subscription service gets a big thumbs from me, I love that an Irish company is bringing something wonderful like this to our kids to stimulate our kids brains, bring them a world of imagination and give them the love of reading.

The service costs €29.95 a month, you can skip a month or cancel anytime. At the moment they have an offer on to get a discount for life if you sign up and you will pay €24.95 (offer closes on the 31st of March). The subscription box would not only make a great monthly surprise for your child but also make a beautiful one off gift for any age of child. Each box is tailored to your child's age and a theme each month. The contents will vary each month with goodies consisting of bookmarks, stickers, prints, toys, accessories and more. Now I done a bit of digging and from the usual websites I buy books from all 4 books would have cost me a whopping €42+, so I say the Bookawoo subscription would make a great saving for us in the long run. They deliver here in Ireland and to the UK.

NOTD: Essie Nail Polish "Go Ginza"

Gone are the dark colours of Autumn/Winter and now Spring has sprung and my nails need to feel that way. Essie is brand of polish I love but for some reason I don't have very many in my collection, so I picked up 3 new ones and here is the first one I've tried.

Essie "Go Ginza" is a lilac with pink undertones a perfect pastel for spring and with 2 coats you get the opacity you need. You could even go for 3 if you have the time. The drying time with thin coats is quick and I like the application the brush gives. I used a topcoat and I'm now on day 4 with no wear or tear which is a miracle for me and a polish, and I think by the looks of it I'll get another few days.

Let us all just ignore the state of my cuticles and skin (I hang my head in shame).  The above picture is with 3 coats of "Go Ginza" and a top coat, also picture taken on 4th day of wear in natural light. I have a feeling I will be getting a lot of wear out of this colour over the coming months.

Let me know what you're favourite shades are for Spring/Summer?!

First Aid Beauty is it as FAB as it sounds?!

I'm back.......again! Sorry for the big gaps in posting this year, it's been a madhouse here for awhile, but I'm hoping to get back blogging again regularly and I just want to thank you all for staying around and engaging with me still on social media. So on with the show as they say....

I picked up a First Aid Beauty aka FAB gift set before Christmas on Cloud 10 Beauty, and I didn't know much about the brand before hand except for their Facial Radiance Pads (but I didn't get them yet). The set I got is no longer available but they can all be purchased from Cloud 10 Beauty individually.

First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser is feels like pure luxury on the face. After moving away from oils to cleanse I'm really enjoying using this in the mornings. With its whipped texture and creamy feel once it hits your skin, it breaks down all the dirt and grime to leave you with a soft feel to your skin. I like it because it doesn't leave my skin feeling stripped and it takes down any irritations and redness on my skin. The cream looks to have a luminosity to it just like the moisturising cream that I will talk about further down.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Lip Therapy, lives in my bag or beside my bed. When I first saw the texture of this I thought it was a sugar scrub, but it melts into your lips leaving them nourished, and well moisturised.

First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Purifying Mask with Red Clay, is a peel off mask that says it detoxifies and deeply purifies the complexion by drawing out the skin impurities, regulates excess sebum and eliminated clogged pores. I'm not a fan of peel off masks as I haven't got the patience to peel these things off.......but when I get the layer of this mask right on my face and sit back for twenty minutes I'm really pleased with how smooth my skin is, and noticed a visible difference in the size of my pores around my nose and forehead.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream, is my favourite out of all the products!!! It has a whipped texture just like when you are making a meringue and the cream has a wonderful luminosity to it, leaving your skin glowing. I don't usually get on well with creams that are aimed for both face and body but this cream does it all. It soaks in quick with no greasy feeling. It has helped heal some marks I had on my face from a reaction to another face mask I used over a year ago and now I'm perfectly happy to go makeup free again, especially with the glow this gives to my skin. It's also helped Lillibug with her eczema which a steroid cream couldn't do that was prescribed for her. It also has been my hand cream lately too. It's just a fantastic product and one that I will always have on my vanity. It contains colloidal oatmeal, shea butter, soothing eucalyptus oil, and ceramides, the repair cream will give you relief to skin complaints and really improve it.

Overall this range has gotten a big thumbs up from me especially with its luxurious textures, and results. The products are allergy tested, free from parabens and artificial fragrances and most importantly safe for sensitive skin.

Throw Back Thursday with Netflix

We're back again with Netflix and now joining Stream Team for our third year. We are super excited about this and hope you continue to read and enjoy our posts.

For about 3 weeks there was a lot of binge watching here of Netflix because Lillibug was very sick. The only thing she had energy for was the couch for cuddles and loads of Netflix. I took great delight in watching a lot of these because it brought me right back to my own childhood as I watched all these too. I think it's great that what we watched as kids still stands up today and something for our kids to enjoy.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Season 1-4

While it's not exactly the same as the "My Little Pony" of my youth, the basics are still the same. However instead of the harmless humour of the original, this show is a bit more anarchic in the "Spongebob Squarepants" style, which would also explain why it's developed a cult following among adults. Not to say that the humour is ever inappropriate or anything. This is a colourful, funny update of an 80's classic that can be enjoyed by all.

Garfield and Friends Season 1-2

The sardonic cat with no patience for anything other than sleep or lasagne is currently streaming on Netflix. While this programme started in 1988, it's aged really well. The animation still looks good, and the never ending struggle between cat and human, and cat and dog, is timeless! Garfield is nearly more relevant now due to the sheer amount of cat related material on the internet! Now if I was a cat I have a feeling I'd be Garfield!

Care Bears & Cousins Season 1-2

Ah Care Bears, hands up if you remember the Kingdom of  Caring? I loved the Care bears and Lillibug is loving them just as much! I used to collect the teddies and loved the insignia (belly badges), which represented their personalities and duties. They were first launched in 1982 and have made many a relaunch since. Now thanks to Netflix commissioning Care Bears & Cousins we are back in action.

Disney Bedknobs and Broomsticks

While it's not exactly "Mary Poppins", "Bedknobs and Broomsticks" was a decent effort by Disney to recapture the magic of "Mary Poppins". The two films share some cast members, songwriters and director. As well as that the film integres of animation and live action the same way that "Mary Poppins" did. Angela Lansbury stars as a witch in training who takes in three kids left homeless during the London bombings during World War II. While it's nowhere near as good as "Mary Poppins", it's not without it's charm especially the performances of Angela Lansbury who I just love and David Tomlinson.

*Disclaimer: I'm a member of the Netflix Stream Team and for this I received a complimentary subscription for one year & an Apple TV (Box).  All opinions are my own, and I will be posting once a month in relation to Netflix Stream Team. Stay tuned........
