What's In My Makeup Bag - Linky

I'm so excited to share "What's in my Makeup Bag?" part of the link up with Sara from Where is my mind?. I haven't done a post like this since...let's just say a long time.

First off I love this Benefit Makeup bag that I have and it's perfect for all that I need. I love how it opens up to so I'm not fishing around blindly trying to find what I need.

For my foundation I use the MAC Studio Fix Fluid SPF15 in the shade NW13 & I think I could go a shade lighter but I'm hoping that the sun might come out soon. For my contour (I use the term lightly as that's how light I go) I'm using the NYX Powder Blush in the shade Taupe, this works perfect on my pale skin for contouring it also has a slight purplish undertone to it. This is really great for building the colour as well so works for me to chisel those cheekbones. For concealer I'm going between Wet n Wild CoverAll & Benefit Fakeup. I save the Benefit Fakeup  for when my under eyes are extremely dry & tight as this is just fab for helping out both those problems.

For my blush I'm using my new MAC Wash & Dry Blush in the lovely colour Hipness, this a really pigmented blush but is long wearing and has a coral/pinky tone. The finishing powder I am using is the NYX  Radiant Finishing Powder which is so smooth and soft.

For my eyes I'm obsessed with using my Stila Eyes are the Window Palette (spirit) and for extra staying power I'm using the Catrice Prime and Fine Eyeshadow Base which is an absolute bargain and essential. I tend to go between using two mascaras and at the moment I'm using Wet n Wild Max Volume Plus and Benefit Roller Lash. For my eyebrows I'm never without my trusty Benefit Gimme Brow.

Finally I finish off with my lip products and at the moment in my makeup bag I have MAC Wash and Dry Steam Heat and NYX Butter Gloss in Cherry Cheesecake. Never thought I would wear an orange gloss but I love it!

So that's the contents of my makeup bag at the moment, this changes weekly. I can't wait to see what you have in your bags and don't forget to join in with the linky just click on the photo below for more info!

Dove Deeply Nourishing Body Wash

I'm back now after a little break, sometimes breaks can be good and today we are off to a good start with a great budget friendly body wash.

The dove scientists have been busy of late bringing us a great body wash that does all the mositurising when we shower. This one has been a winner in our shower, so much so that hubby has being using it too.

As you all know if you read my blog regularly I'm always looking for ways to speed up my mornings and this is one of those products that helps me cut out moisturising separately and then waiting for it to soak in before getting dressed.

It smells lovely and fresh, and my skin is left feeling like it got it's daily moisture. I didn't notice a huge difference at first with my skin but after a about two weeks I noticed that my skin was actually feeling much better especially around my upper arms where I have eczema, and I'm putting it down to the Dove Deeply Nourishing body wash because it has been the only thing new that I have been using.

NEW Dove Body Wash (€5,99) replenishes nutrients lost during cleansing to help smooth skin and strengthen its moisture barrier deep down and not just on the top layer of skin. It feels rich, and has a great lather to it. NutriumMoisture™ has a unique blend of moisturisers enriched with skin-natural lipids, which absorbs into the skin to nourish while you shower.

This was sent to me and it did go under the radar for me for a few weeks only to be surprised by how good this budget friendly body wash is.

Netflix: Family

This month on Netflix sees the arrival of new a comedy show. "Grace and Frankie" centres around two women who find themselves sharing the same patch after their husbands leave them. For each other. Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin star as the title characters, and do a great job in the roles. Martin Sheen and Sam Waterston as their husbands are equally good. This isn't the first time Fonda and Waterston have shared the screen in recent years, as both were on the fantastic "The Newsroom".

This show brought up the topic of "family". The more I thought about it, the more I realised that in terms of movies, the word "family" has a few different uses. You have family movies; movies for everyone in the house to enjoy. You can have movies about families, and you can have families of movies, such as all the Marvel films that have come out in recent years.

I've decided to take a look at some examples of each, all streaming now on Netflix in the UK and Ireland.

Family Movie:

When it comes to family time, Disney are a very tough act to beat. In the 80's however, Disney were going through a bit of a dry run. It was during this time that Don Bluth rose to the top of the heap in terms of successful animated films. "The Secret of Nimh" and "An American Tail" were hits, but "The Land Before Time" is my personal favourite. Lillibug loves it too, as she's really into dinosaurs at the minute, so she plays with her toy dinosaurs acting out the film as it happens.

Movies About Family:

When people think of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), the first things that come to mind are men (and women) getting beaten up and Conor McGregor acting the eejit in front of the world. In "Warrior" though, it's the backdrop for a fantastic story about two estranged brothers and their deadbeat father. One of the brothers has a family of his own to look after, while the other has family of a different kind (what? I don't want to spoil it!). It goes past what a normal sports movie and crosses over into a great film about family and forgiveness.

A Family of Movies:

With a new, fifth film in the series arriving in July, now is the perfect time to revisit the "Mission Impossible" series starring Tom Cruise. It's hard to believe that the first film came out in 1996! I still vividly remember being in the cinema and everyone being quiet as mice when Ethan Hunt (Cruise) was swinging in the vault, trying not to make too much noise or touch the floor (above). The series has gone from strength to strength, even though it did take a dip in quality with "Mission Impossible II". "Mission: Impossible", "Mission: Impossible II" and "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" (the fourth one) are now all streaming on Netflix UK and Ireland.

What are your family favourites?

*Disclaimer: I am a member of the Netflix Stream Team and for this I received a complimentary subscription & an Apple TV (Box). All opinions are my own, and I will be posting once a month in relation to Netflix Stream Team. Stay tuned........

Summer Beauty Essentials

It's that time of year again (I hope, it's hard to know with Irish weather), and it's time to get the sandals out, the sunscreen, the spring colours and dare I say insect bites!

During the summer months I wear very little makeup, I like to keep things minimal, but there are some things I can't go without.

1. Riemann P20 Sun Protection Factor 30 200ml (€32.99). This is a firm favourite of mine and has been since one of my best friends and I bought this at the airport before flying off on holidays in 2008. I never burn wearing this and it makes my skin look brilliant because it's an oil. It dries in super quick and offers once a day (10 hour) protection. I do tend to pop it on twice though for extra safety and this is just habit. It now comes with a new spray action so big thumbs up for that.

2. Emoji Micro Pedi Nano (€39.95). My feet have been in hiding since last summer so they weren't the prettiest, but with the Micro Pedi Nano that has changed and I'm ready to show my feet off in a gorgeous pair of sandals! This tackles all the dry and callous skin on those feet, and it's super portable to bring on holidays. It also comes in 3 cute colours, pink, blue and orange!

3. The Cream Repair (€44.95), is expensive and it was sent to me to try out but, oh my goodness, this little tube is a wonder for everything. I got bitten by a spider recently and this cream has made my ankle brand new in super quick time. I'm also using it for Lillibug's nappy rash and the minute you apply this the redness literally disappears in front of your eyes, so she definitely gives this a big thumbs up.

4. Boots Botanics Radiance Balm (€7.99) is very new to me and but I instantly fell in love with it and keep reaching for it every day. This is beautiful used alone or under makeup. It adds a boost of radiance but also hydration. I've seen other bloggers saying this is a good dupe for MAC Strobe Cream but this is glittery and more radiant than Strobe Cream with a more liquid texture. Also this is a bargain and can usually be found on offer in Boots.

5. Avène Thermal Spring Water 150ml (€8.99). This is perfect for any sunburn, skin irritation, after cleansing, and nappy rash (you know I love products that both myself and Lillibug can use!). It's really refreshing and I can't get enough of using this at the moment and have ordered the 300ml one now.

6. TRESemmé Perfectly Undone Waves Creating Foam (€7.49) My hair has changed so much the last year and it no longer has a wave in it, it can't even hold one after I use a tong. The new TRESemmé is really helping with that problem now. I like my hair to dry naturally and this gives the kink back in my hair but without it feeling weighed down. It is also great for holding a curl that I do with my straighteners and the curls will last all day.

7. Rimmel Rita Ora Nail Polishes (€.4.49) Okay I think we all know now that I can't get enough of these polishes, but they are a great way of injecting some colour and life into summer! They dry fast, they last 4-5 days if not longer on me and they are budget friendly, plus who can resist those colours.

What is your summer essential? Let me know in the comments below.

Blogging Community and Friendships

This May I am coming up to 2 years of blogging. I am often asked about the friendships I've made through blogging and how if it's possible.

At first I was very dubious about meeting people that I only spoke to over the internet, but when a meetup came about in Dublin by a well known Irish brand I decided that it would make the perfect opportunity to finally meet some bloggers face to face. Once my confidence grew I ended up going to more meetups and discovering that the lovely bloggers were open and such lovely and inspiring people.

I have made some amazing friends over the last two years, friends that even if I gave up blogging tomorrow we would still have that friendship. Not only do we have blogging in common we also have other loves and passions that we don't talk about in the public forum. It's always great to meet new people and learn from each others experiences. I've also found it great for Lillibug because now she has also made friends too. The community is fantastic for support and rallying around to help in anyway they can as well.

When it comes to meeting those you talk to on the internet I do urge you to be careful, I have been lucky to meet with other bloggers in a safe environment but also in a professional manner. Not everyone is as they seem. Make sure someone else knows (like a family member) where you are and who you are with.

But if you are lucky, like me, to find that the people you meet in person after building up a rapport online, you might just find some friends for life.

Bioline Jatò Review

I was delighted to recently be sent some products from Italian skincare company Bioline Jatò. This family run business have many years of experience in skincare having been established in 1979.

Picture by Michael McGillycuddy (Aka Eileen's Hubby!) Check out his FB page for amazing photography.

I received the Soothing Serum with Aloe Vera (€35.98), Bilberry Hydrating Cream (€53.20) and Bilberry Refreshing Gel Mask (€40.90) from the Vintage 79 Sweet Relief line which is for sensitive, easily irritated, dehydrated skin. It also reduced redness.

The Sweet Relief products contain Hydro-Soothing Complex (Black Bilberry, Hamamelis, Aloe Vera, Enteromorpha Compressa) which, per the company, ‘makes skin more resistant to external aggressions, providing comfort and freshness.’ It is a statement which I agree with completely.

The serum is a lovely light gel consistency.  I applied a pea sized amount of the serum morning and evening and it is recommended to apply extra to any areas that would be more sensitive and for me that would be my cheeks. The aloe vera is soothing and it absorbs well. It also contains Entermorpha Compressa which is a type of marine algae, Kiwi Plant Water, Witch Hazel, Millet and Calendula Extracts.

I followed with the hydrating cream which has a very gentle aroma of bilberry. It has a good consistency and not much is needed as it spreads very well over the skin. It left my skin feeling comfortable, hydrated and with a lovely glow. As well as the bilberry extract this cream also contains the following active ingredients: sweet almond oil, horse chestnut, hawthorn extract and evening primrose oil. Make-up applies very well over this too.

I have been using the mask a few times a week. Again it has gentle aroma and felt cooling and soothing on application. I also noticed on days that my cheeks were red, be it from the weather or more recently the central heating back on (thank you Irish summer!), they looked much calmer after I removed the mask. It also contains witch hazel and chamomile extract as well as the bilberry extract as active ingredients.

I am thoroughly enjoying using these products, my skin is soothed with a lovely healthy glow so that gets a big thumbs up from me.

Bioline Jatò is sold exclusively through salons and spas so should any of you be interested to find out more on stockists or any of their other skincare products then please contact Newgen Skin -

Darkness Into Light 2015

2am Saturday morning saw me getting out of bed and getting kitted out for Darkness into Light 2015.  A 5km walk/run in aid of Pieta House and supported by Electric Ireland. This is my second year to take part. I hadn't registered this year as I wasn't well and was going to sit it out, but I couldn't get it out of my head. I knew I had to do it again.

It was nearing time to go when Lillibug heard me getting my stuff and she came out with "doggy" (her favourite teddy) and asks "where are you off to?". She didn't believe me when I said I was going to bed, so I decided to take a chance and bring Lillibug so we could do it together because she is my light and brings me from the dark. I've battled with depression and last year was the toughest for me so doing the walk, meant even more this year.

We made our way to Enniscorthy to an amazing but tranquil atmosphere. It was amazing to see so many young kids and teenagers taking part and everyone talking to one another and sharing stories. Lillbug made a great ice breaker and she was determined to get going. At 4.15am we all took off. Lillibug decided to walk the first km and she did it so well that she wanted to keep going, but I put her in the buggy. Lillibug finished the last bit to cross the finish line when dawn approached, and she made me so proud. She is my hope and strength. Everyone takes part for their own reasons but it was great that everyone supported one another on the walk and nobody walked alone. We all chatted and helped one another along. Without a doubt, I will be taking part again next year with Lillibug, and I urge you all to as well. It's for a good cause and the service is badly needed.

Seven years on Darkness into Light is still going strong, a symbol of hope and a celebration of life. It's about raising awareness and giving our support to Pieta House and the people that need the services they provide.

Pieta House is a centre for the prevention of self-harm or suicide.

"From humble beginnings, Pieta House has grown to almost 180 therapists and administration staff, and the demand for our service hasn’t let up. To that end, in 2014 alone, over 5,000 people came through our doors suffering from suicidal ideation or engaging in self-harm."

Well done to everyone who raised money, and left their warm beds Saturday morning to take part.

Evening Skincare Routine

Hope you all enjoyed my recent Morning Skincare Routine, and without further ado here is my evening routine!

I like products in the evening that I can relax and take my time with.

You may have seen me talk about the  Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Melting Cleanser (€28) in my morning routine. I love this cleanser so much I like to use it twice in a day!

Ole Henriksen Walnut Complexion Scrub (€31.00). This is my luxury scrub which, if I don't do it in my morning routine, then I will use in the evening. Most scrubs can make my skin feel like it's getting zapped of moisture, but this is a whole new experience. My skin glows after using this too.

I really love the Nivea Q10 Plus Eye Cream (€11.79). I have awful bags under my eyes in the mornings but this has really helped, as well as adding moisture back into that area.

My moisturiser of choice without a doubt is The Cream Nourishing Face Cream by The Pink Cow Brand (€49.95), I can not rave about enough. Yes it's on the pricey side, but this is my "miracle cream". I love this at night and I wake up to lovely amazing soft skin. On special occasions I will wear this under my makeup as it works as a great primer too. It's like it just blurs everything. This is my second bottle and a little really does go a long way.

**Bonus Products**

For an extra zap of moisture for my crappy dry skin, I use:

The Body Shop Drops of Youth Sleeping Mask (€30). With the unusual bouncy jelly texture this is the greatest, most luxurious sleeping mask that has ever touched my face. I love that it feels cool when applied. I apply about an hour before bed as it can feel a little tacky, but the effect in the morning is great. I would recommend this over my GlamGlow Thirsty Mud which I think is over priced and doesn't deliver the results I expected.

For my quick fix mask I choose the Nuxe Créme fraiche 24hr Moisturising Mask (€21). Pop this mask on for 10 minutes and it will take down any redness and gives such soothing feeling to the skin.

What are your holy grail products for your skin? I love to know these things!

A to Z of Me Tag

Big thank you to Rod over at Modern Dad Pages for tagging me to this. It took me ages to actually do this because I think I am the most uninteresting person! So hopefully you might learn something about me from this, and if you don't drop off to sleep before reaching Z then fair play to you!

A - When talking I can get very animated so be careful of swinging hand.

B - I'm blogging 2 years at the end of this month and it has very much become a part of me.

C - I can be very clumsy, this comes with having fibromyalgia, so I have a tendency to fall or bump into things.

D - My name is Danielle, which means God is my Judge. I also started off this blog using Lilliwhiterose as a pseudonym but that went out the window about a year ago.

E - I can get over excited about the littlest of thing, I'm just a big child at heart.

F - I am a loyal friend and would do anything for my friends.

G - Grateful for the amazing family and friends that I have in my life.

H - When I believe in something I can be very headstrong about it, no amount of persuasion can change that, even if I am wrong haha.

I - Even tough I'm 31 I have an imagination to rival any toddler.

J - I can't tell a joke to save my life.

K - My husband is Kevin and is the love of my life.

P - I'm patient except for when driving, but we won't get into that right now.

Q - I like to know everything (impossible I know) and I'm very quizzical. I like to learn one new thing before I got to bed, so out comes wikipedia or a trivia book.

R - I'm always restless at night, I think too much when I go to bed and have brainwaves that I then have to go follow up on!

S - Saturday is my favourite day of the week, always has been and I have no reason for it.

T -  I love travelling and wish I could do more of it. I did get to go to Egypt which was a dream come true back in 2007.

V - Vanilla ice cream is sooooo boring.

W - Winter is my favourite season, it means wedding anniversary, Lillibug's birthday and christmas!
