Lillibug's Toddler Favourites (January)

It's that time again where Lillibug shares her top picks of the month, or just the things she is absolutely loving.

Minnie Mouse Facecloth

Lillibug is loving her new facecloth because she thinks Minnie is so happy with her for being a good girl and cleaning her own face. Now we just have one problem....Lillibug will ONLY use this! We picked this up in Dealz for €1.49

Tesco Loves Baby & Toddler Detangle Conditioning Spray

Sorry that I don't have the price of this, I can't find the receipt anywhere but it was really affordable and I think it comes in under €2.00. This is Lillibug's third bottle of this detangle spray and we all love it. When I say we all love it I mean me too, after Lillibug got loads of compliments on how shiny her hair was the relisation finally hit me that it was this spray, and when I use it I also can see the shine in my own hair. It also has really gorgeous pear smell.

Jigsaws

Lillibug has also being totally obsessed with Jigsaws the last few months, that we now have a massive collection of them! They have being great for teaching her patience and working on problem solving. I have to admit I love doing the jigsaws too especially on these extremely cold days, and it's a great alternative to just sitting in front of the telly.

What do your kids love to do on these cold days lately?

First Impression of Benefit Roller Lash

I think we all knew Benefit were brewing up something new for us and it may have come as surprise to many that it was a new mascara! Meet Benefit Roller Lash (for some reason I keep going to say Roller Ball?!)

The excitement on social media has being massive from what I can see, especially as Elle Magazine has an exclusive sample with their March issue (out now). So of course I went and picked it up.

I believe the packaging of the full size is going to be different from the sample, but the brush and formula will be the same. The full size will also, from what I believe, be €26.00 and will be available to buy towards the end of February. The eye-opening Hook ‘n’ Roll™ brush grabs, separates, lifts and curls with its rubber bristles and I have to say that it did all of that. It grabs onto even the tiniest of lashes. As a glasses wearer I love a dramatic curl in my lashes to prevent them from fluttering against my glasses, and Benefit Roller Lash was a joy to wear for that reason.

I went as far as three layers and it didn't clump or snag against my lashes. It's black but not as intense as They're Real, and no fall out. Another bonus from the new Roller Lash is that it's not as crispy on the lashes as its predecessor, They're Real.

I was a huge fan of They're Real which also comes in at €26  but it was just too much hassle trying to get it off at the end of the day, Roller Lash was much easier to swipe away with my Micellar water.

Do you think you could be tempted by Benefit Roller Lash?

January Favourites

After yesterday's post on my disappointing products I thought today should be all about favourites! Most of these I've been using for a long time or have being enjoying using since Christmas.

Superdrug Vitamin E Super Balm €4.75

I have been loving this since Christmas and I don't want to give too much away as I have an in depth review coming Tuesday on this. I will say that this has taken over from my Trilogy Balm

Mac Studio Fix Foundation €31.50

I reviewed this recently and have to say this is my holy grail of foundations. MAC is still relatively new to me but so far I've been lucky with the products I have tried. I've literally scraped every last drop out of this bottle and it's now time to stock up again.

Sleek Blush in Antique €5.49

Really sorry that this product is used already in the picture. I shopped my stash recently and came across this (after thinking I lost it). I really love how this warms up my pale skin in this grey weather and with the small bits of glitter (don't worry I don't look like a disco ball) it really livens me up a bit. I then just put a little bit of a pink blush to add some dimension to my cheeks and I'm done. Sleek blushes are highly pigmented, affordable and last nearly all day.

Korres Mandarin Lip Butter Stick SPF 15 (Rose) €11.43

This was my first taste of Korres (see what I did there....never mind haha). I was really delighted that the Rose colour really suited my pale complexion and for a lip butter it had a good colour payoff. My lips are super moisturised and I wouldn't hesitate to pick more of these up in other colours.

Paul & Joe Limited Edition Illuminating Pressed Powder €38.57

To begin I'm sorry for putting something that is limited edition in my favourites but I think this is absolutely amazing. My skin is looking dull in this cold weather and when I found this gem on sale over on ASOS for €24.29 I couldn't resist! The packaging is gorgeous but most importantly the product itself is fabulous. The gold owl, moon and stars is just an overlay so the minute the brush hit the powder it was gone, but the lavender and yellow powder really does lift my complexion. I've being using this everyday for the past few weeks and just can't get enough. It sets my foundation perfectly too. There is glitter in it but even in the natural light it doesn't show up like a disco ball, it comes across very natural.

2048 Plus App

I love a game for the rare time that I get a chance to play, and this one has me totally addicted. You have to move the numbers around the board to make up 2048 or higher! This was free in the play store for Android.

Have you tried any of my favourites yet?

Disappointing Products #1

I thought it was about time I talked about some products that just did not work for me! As much as I like to find the positive in everything, there are just some things that didn't suit me.

Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer €13

I decided to start with this as I've recently reviewed it. As much as I wanted this to work for me it just did not perform the way I wanted it to. Yes it has great coverage but it didn't sit well on my skin.

Invisi Bobble (3 pack) €5

As the name suggests it is a bobble that is invisible..... For me it is not invisible and I find it to be really uncomfortable at times. I was recommended these for actually sleeping in, but no way would I leave these in over night, it just wouldn't be comfortable. Also these aren't meant to snag the hair or leave kinks, but to me they did both. My hair is quite fine and these bobbles certainly don't do anything for me.

Rimmel Stay Matte €7.79

I looked so ill wearing this foundation! It leaves a mask like effect on me and clings to every dry patch even if well moisturised and primed. I can feel this on my skin, it's really obvious that I'm wearing it. I think this would work better on someone with really oily skin (possibly).

P.S Love This Brush Cleanser €2.50

Yes there is alcohol in it and yes I can be lazy when it comes to washing my brushes, so this seemed like a bargain! Unfortunately the smell really annoyed me the more I used it that now I never want to smell it again. I really shouldn't complain at €2.50 but I was so disappointed that my brushes didn't really look very clean after using it. It did work great on small brushes like my eye brushes and they dried quickly after using it, but it would have been great if worked on my big face brushes too.

So all of the above are products that have recently disappointed me. My favourites for January are coming soon so I hope that will cheer us all up. xx

Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer Review

I've always been intrigued by Soap & Glory makeup and when I recently got the chance to get to a stand I just knew I had to pick up the Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer (€13.00) in light. 2015 is the year I will be on the hunt for my holy grail concealer, so read on to see if I found it!

First off the packaging is great. It's fun, compact and sturdy and has a little mirror, so overall it's perfect for throwing in your handbag or makeup bag.

You will find two compartments, the bottom contains your cream concealers, one for under eyes to brighten the area up and the second concealer to cover blemishes. You will also find your mirror in this compartment. The second compartment holds your weightless transparent powder, which also hold a little puff.

The undereye concealer is brightening and once warmed in the hand, blended on beautifully, but after about a half hour I found that it creased and exaggerated my lines in that area. I'm also wear glasses and found that the concealer moved around the outer part of the bridge of the glasses so ended up having to wash them. The second concealer has great coverage for blemishes but found that it really dried out the area where it was placed and the colour was a little off for my skin tone. What I really loved from this compact was the sealing powder and I've been dipping my brush into it trying to use it all over my face to set my makeup. I believe the powder is Soap & Glory's One Heck of a Blot mattifying powder so need to pick myself up the full size of that soon.

Overall I was disappointed with this especially as I know it is loved by so many but for me and my skin it just didn't work. I would love to know what concealers you love, so drop me a comment and let me know!

Clothing, Accessories & Homeware Haul

Well lo and behold I actually had an afternoon shopping! Lillibug was in the best of form on this particular day (which is a miracle) so she actually didn't mind me going into dressing rooms or having a stroll around shops. Believe me that is a rarity lately! I tend not to buy clothes for myself especially if I'm on my own. I really rely on my Mum's opinion (and yes I rang her while out on this particular day asking for advice) and I picked up a jumper & shirt. So I went to Pennys, DV8, Heatons and Home Store + More. This post will show you my clothes, accessories, bedding and storage.

First off I got this lovely jumper for €17. It's thicker than I expected so should keep me nice and toasty. I'm a cold critter thanks to an underactive thyroid so I love a cosy jumper to just throw on. I also got the statement necklace for €8 and after two of them breaking on me recently I need a new one (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!).

I absolutely love this sheer shirt from DV8 it was €49.99 reduced to €24.95 so I was thrilled with myself when this fitted me. I love the gold stars on it too. The heart necklace I couldn't resist for €2.00. DV8 is relatively new to Wexford and I hadn't really gotten a chance to go in until now, and I have to say I will going back again. They have amazing clothes, bags, shoes and accessories (you'd think I lived a sheltered life).

Oh yeah, I really don't need to explain why I got the two set of boxes from Heatons at €12.00, the fact that it has potions and lotions written on it had me straight away!

I needed something bright for our bed, just something to lift the room and when I spotted this I was running to the till. I have to admit this was in the kids room section but......it was reduced from €20 to €8 YAY!

So who is going to join me in a spending ban? xx

Blog Stationery Haul From Mr. Price

I am so obsessed when it comes to stationery and now that we are into the New Year I visited Mr. Price (where I go for all my stationery needs). So I've restocked on a few things for the coming months, and love the feeling of being organised and knowing what's what on a daily basis. I got some fab bargains while on my visit so without further ado this is what I got.

Family Organiser €2.99

I have a memory like a sieve these days so I write an awful lot of reminders on scraps of paper but then I forget where I put them (see, mind like a sieve)! So I was delighted when I saw this Family Organiser for only €2.99 that I can keep on the kitchen table which means I have no fear of forgetting where I put it.

Small Style Journal €5.99

I love to keep a small notebook in my handbag or close by me and I use this for all my blog notes/ideas/brainstorms. This journal really caught my eye and love that is hardback so it won't get tatty so it's perfect. All the pages are lined too and it has an elastic band for closure.

Card File €3.99

Since starting my blog I've accumulated so many business cards and I want to keep every single one of them, so I got this handy card file that fits 120 cards. I may need to pick up another one, you never know when you might need a plumber.

Cards €1.49

I'm very traditional and love to write notes to friend and families and this year I want to send even more. So got this lovely little set of cards and really reasonable at €1.49 with 8 in the pack and coming in two designs.

Sticky Notes €1.99

Where would we be without our sticky notes. I loved the vintage inspired sticky notes. Writing on them isn't great because of the size and background but still love them.

Tell me, how you like to keep things organised?

MAC Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15 Review

Back in September, while on holidays in Cork I picked up my first ever MAC Foundation! I know I was meant to review it back then especially as some of you asked, but between one thing or another I never got round to it (sorry!).

I was colour matched in store to NW13 for my pale skin, and then after a discussion about my dry skin and oily t-zone the MAC Studio Fix Fluid was chosen for me.

Well I have to say this is my holy grail of foundations. The colour match NW13 is perfect with a pink undertone (I always struggle to find that pink undertone at the pharmacy stands). The foundation is medium coverage but buildable to full coverage with a lovely natural matte finish which does not look flat at all.

Another problem that I can have with foundations is longevity, but even without a primer or setting spray the Studio Fix Fluid locks in for the day, so that is definitely a bonus point for me.

As with all foundations I was worried about how it would suit my skin and when I bought this last year my skin was dry but had an oily t-zone. The foundation didn't cling to the dry patches and it soaked up any oiliness around the t-zone. There is a strong smell of this foundation but this didn't cause me any problems to my sensitive skin and once applied the smell doesn't linger. My skin has recently changed to really dry with no oiliness, but once my skin is prepped with a really good moisturiser and I use my Real Techniques Sponge to apply I'm good to go.

This foundation performs just the way I want it and now that I have scraped the last of the foundation out of the gorgeous glass bottle I really need to order more! You have the added bonus of having an SPF 15 in it which is great and with its specially treated micronized pigments and soft focus powders this certainly smooths out my skin and covers any imperfections.

The foundation is €31.50 and you have to buy a pump separately at €5.50. It is expensive but for me this is worth it and definitely a treat. A little goes a long way to get the coverage I like so this does last me.

What's your holy grail foundation? Let me know!

NOTD - Ciaté Can Can

Welcome to my first NOTD (nails of the day) blog post. I have realised how obsessed over the last couple of months I have gotten over nail polishes. Eighteen months ago I owned four polishes now I'm heading for fifty, to some this still might not be a lot, but for me this is. My obsession was borne and fed by two bloggers in particular, Sharon from Behind Green Eyes & Nicole of Beauty, Lifestyle, Ramblings by Nicholle! If you read my Secret Santa post you may already know that I received the Ciaté Haute House from Audrey of The Nail Affair, so let me introduce you to my favourite shade!

Out of all the shades in the house, Can Can is undoubtedly my favourite and I can't stop wearing it lately. The pigmentation in just one coat is outstanding and beautiful. The shimmering burgundy colour is my go to shade of late and got me through Christmas and New Year.

I would recommend a top coat which I did not use for these pictures but have since used and it lasted for a week with a top coat.

I finished off by just painting some Catrice (€2.79) Nail Lacquer in Kitch Me If You Can on my ring finger to add some sparkle over the festive season. Now that the festive season is over I still can't resist a bit of sparkle to jazz up my nails.

The Ciaté Haute House is available on ASOS!

What is your go to nail colour for January? Let me know in the comments below x

Imagining The New Year (Linky with The Busy Mama)

Happy New Year to all my readers new and old. I was going to do a look back of 2014 but decided that 2015 is about looking forward.

Health:
As always my heath took a bit of a hit last year, so for 2015 I'm hoping to get back to my old fitness levels and lose some weight. Both of which will help my health to some degree.

Family & Friendships:
My family are most important to me and I'm very lucky to be living near my mum and dad so I get to see them a lot. I would love for 2015 to mean some more "date nights" with Kevin even just a trip to the cinema would make me sing Hallelujah! 2015 I am hoping will mean more time with my friends and doing more together, which will also mean some "me time". I have made wonderful friendships with other bloggers too so I would love to develop those friendships further and get to more meetups during 2015!

Lillibug:
Lillibug is now 3 and such an adventurer so I'm hoping to show her more of Ireland this year with loads of day trips. It has been brought to my attention that you would like to see more blog posts regarding Lillibug so for 2015 I'll try and introduce some more.

Blog:
I haven't been blogging as much and I'm not sure if that is going to change but as always it will be about quality over quantity. I don't want to just throw blog posts together just to have more content, I take great enjoyment out of blogging and I don't want that to change and it is my number one hobby! I will also be collaborating with Nicole from Beauty, Lifestyle, Ramblings with Nicholle (pictured above) who is also from Wexford, but we will have more news on that in the next few weeks, so keep your eyes peeled for news.

Irish Beauty & Lifestyle Bloggers Inspire:
Last year saw the creation of Irish Beauty & Lifestyle Bloggers Inspire Facebook Group and I would love to see it grow over the next year. The group is all about inspiring, supporting and networking together. The group has wonderful bloggers involved and it is a great way for us to have a chat and help with tips and share advice.

I'm imagining 2015 to be a happy, tranquil and a healthy year!

Join Helen from The Busy Mama's linky and read other amazing posts that are part of the link up!
