Netflix Stream Team: The Musical Edition.

Movies and music go hand in hand. It's no coincidence that a good movie soundtrack can become nearly as successful as the film that it came from. "Saturday Night Fever", "Pulp Fiction" and most recently Disney's "Frozen" are all perfect examples of this. If you're an X-Factor fan, you'll almost certainly have heard music from movies used during the dramatic parts, and you may not even have realised it.

Netflix has a whole host of musical treats for the entire family, so in this post I'm going to be looking at some of the standouts that the family are really enjoying.

With Lillibug, as we've stated before, she's in a serious Disney phase (one I hope she doesn't grow out of!). She loves getting her rolling pin from her toy kitchen and using it as a microphone to sing along with her favourite Disney tunes. At the moment, she's really into "Tangled", probably because she can now pronounce Rapunzel's name. This film has some songs that fit right in with the Disney classics of the nineties. The other one she's really getting a kick out of is "Lilo and Stitch" which features a lot of Elvis Presley songs, much to the delight of her grandaddy! Plus, it's any excuse for me to introduce her to Disney because I'm such a huge fan myself!

When I asked hubby what he was liking he said that he is really into his documentaries, and Netflix has a ton of great ones to choose from. He's also big into his music and when asked, he said that he really liked "Beware of Mr Baker", about legendary drummer Ginger Baker. He also recommended Nick Broomfield's "Kurt and Courtney" which is about the rise and fall of Kurt Cobain, and the conspiracy theories surrounding his death. Light viewing!

So those are the Netflix musical choices that are doing the rounds in our house lately. What about you, what are you watching?

*Disclaimer: I have become a member of the Netflix Stream Team and for this I received a complimentary subscription for one year & an Apple TV (Box). All opinions are my own, and I will be posting once a month in relation to Netflix Stream Team. Stay tuned........

What's In My Travel Makeup Bag? Come Have A Look

This time last week we were away in Cork for our staycation, so I thought I would share with you what I usually like to bring with me.

The makeup bag was a Christmas present and I think it's is the one and only makeup bag I have used more than 2 months, it is just the perfect size for what I like to carry with me.

Eyes:

1. Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
Very rare that I would go without an eyeshadow primer and this is the one I reach for time and time again.

2. Rimmel Wonder'Full Mascara
I really like this mascara, it just glides on effortlessly because of the Argan Oil. My eyelashes don't feel like they are caked in mascara and even if I build it up it still doesn't feel clumpy. I've been using this for about 3 weeks and already have bought a back up because I love it that much.

3. Wet N' Wild Trio Eyeshadow in "Sweet As Candy"
I haven't tried much from this brand but this particular trio palette that I got is my go to everyday eyeshadow that I like to sandwich onto my eyelids. It has great pigmentation and lasts all day with my primer potion.

4. Benefit Gimme Brows Light/Medium
My eyebrows need taming and my right eyebrow in particular need some filling sooooooo Gimme Brows is to the rescue. This is one of the best products I have ever used from Benefit and the Gimme Brows is now my Holy Grail eyebrow product.

Face:

5. Benefit PoreFessional Primer
This has been my go to primer since it launched back in 2010 (I think I have the year right). A little goes a long way and helps reduce the appearance of the pores I have around my nose and chin. I pat it on as I think it give a better application rather than smoothing/rubbing across the face.

6. Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow
I'm not a huge fan of this foundation on me. It really isn't suiting my skin but it was the only one that I could get close enough to my skin colouring. I don't think this is one I would buy again for me personally especially as it barely lasts a couple of hours.

7. Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer
Great concealer for my under eyes and blends like a dream, I don't use this on spots or blemishes due to its highlighting properties though.

*8. Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Powder
I recently did a review on this which you can see here. This has been going everywhere with me lately and a day hasn't passed where I haven't used it either. One of my favourite powders that leaves a lovely finish on my skin.

9. MAC Pro Longwear Blush "Stay Pretty"
Love, love, love this blush need I say more.....I did and you can see my review here

Lips:

10. Revlon Lip Butter "Berry Smoothie"
I absolutely love these lip butters from Revlon and were a great introduction to lippie for me earlier this year. I particular like the shade Berry Smoothie and they glide on like a dream. This also make my lips feel moisturised and makes my teeth look whiter (strange but true).

*11. Tahitian Noni Lip Balm (SPF 15) Original
When I'm travelling I need products that are going to moisturise, be handy to carry and this little wonder ticks those boxes. I'm not a huge fan a balms I have 1 or 2 that I will always go for, but I find that most leave a horrible taste in my mouth (yuck!). This however tastes lovely and leaves my lips in great condition.

*12. Beautycycle Light Up Lip Gloss "Passion"
I was so skeptical when I got this originally thinking it was a bit gimmicky with the light and everything, but the light has come in handy and I love that there is a little mirror on the side. The shade itself I have wearing most of the Summer and will bring me straight through Autumn and Winter too. It has a lovely minty tingly feel to it and seems to disguise the lines in my lips, so my lips look fuller and younger!

So what do you think? Do I bring to much for 5 days away or would you have brought more? Let me know in the comment section below x

*8 I did not buy myself it was sent to me for consideration to review, all opinions are my own.
*11 & 12 were sent to me by the Direct Selling Association of Ireland. They provide information & support for direct selling in Ireland and promote direct selling in the home.

Guest Post: DIY Lip Scrub by Nicole

Hi guys, I'm Nicole from Beauty, Lifestyle, Ramblings :)
Today I wanted to share with you a quick DIY lip scrub using a few things you can easily find at home.

This is a really simple lip scrub with only 3 ingredients. There are a couple of things you can add in or substitute such as Petroleum Jelly, Olive Oil and flavourings.

2 Teaspoons of Caster Sugar

The first thing you're going to need is Caster Sugar. This will act as the exfoliant, removing dry flaky skin when rubbed onto your lips. I suggest using Caster Sugar over Granulated Sugar as it's finer and won't be too harsh if your lips are very dry and cracked.

1 Teaspoon of Coconut Oil

The next thing you're going to need is Coconut Oil or you can use Olive Oil instead. You can also use Petroleum Jelly as well or instead of either of the oils. I'm picking Coconut Oil because I find that using Petroleum Jelly tends to bind everything together.

1 Teaspoon of Honey

The final ingredient is honey. Honey is extremely moisturising and an all round good-doer when it comes to hair, skin and general health.

You're also going to need a bowl, teaspoon and a little container to keep your scrub in.

Step One

Add your Coconut Oil and honey to a bowl and mix it into a thick paste. If you're using Petroleum Jelly add it now. If you want to add flavors like vanilla, almond, orange or mint, do so now. Only add the smallest drop because flavourings tend to be highly concentrated. You can always add more but you can't take it away.

Step Two

Add two teaspoons of sugar and mix it up. When making this I wasn't happy with the consistency so I added another little sprinkle.

Now you just have to pop it into a little container and keep it with your skincare things!

I like to set mine in the fridge for an hour or so because all the mixing can make it a little runny.

I recommend using this 2-3 times a week depending on the condition of your lips. Don't overuse it or your lips will feel raw and don't use it if you have cracked, bleeding lips. Try one of those all purpose dry skin balms or creams.

To use this just take a fingertip of your lip scrub and start rubbing it into your lips. You can lick off the excess or just wipe it off. (You'll probably want to lick if you added flavourings!). You can also use this to remove any leftover pigment from lipstains.

Remember to always apply a thick layer of your favourite lip balm after using your lip scrub.

I love making my own lip scrubs because you already have all the ingredients at home. In my experience they're just as effective as the ones you buy from Lush. You can just throw out any leftover mixture or use it as a body scrub and you haven't wasted €8 if you don't like using it!

Let me know if you decide to try this out!

Don't be afraid to play around with ingredients and add or omit things that you know work well with your skin. Oh, and be careful if you have any allergies!

Thanks for reading!

I would just like to say a big thank you to Nicole for guest posting here on the blog while I'm away on a break!!! Nicole is a great friend and blogger and would love if you head over and read her amazing blog.

Darling Cocktails: How Darling Did We Think They Were?

Darling Cocktails kindly sent me their cocktail collection for a girls night in I was having recently! I was so excited to have the girls over, it's not often that we all get together for a catch up and I wanted to have a bit of fun too. So the cocktails were ready the ice was ready but then the Ice Bucket Challenge Happened!!! We used nearly all the ice for the challenge but there was so much laughter in our back yard that night, and it was all for a good cause (as I'm sure you know about now). The cocktails were at the ready, as well as some snacks but ended up pushing the boat out and ordered a Chinese too (we had to line our stomachs you know).

The first thing that I noticed is how sleek, gold and sophisticated the heavy glass bottle are, they looked like something from the 1920's. I later found out that this was the look that they were going for. The company behind these are Irish and the cocktails are handcrafted and contain only natural flavourings. Each bottle costs RRP €24.95 and are also low calorie! Each contains 20% alc. Vol - 20 Cocktails. Plus, if you have any left over don't worry; the bottles are screw capped so you can save some for next time.

To make, all you have to do is mix 1 part cocktail and 2 parts tonic/soda/prosecco or 7Up (like we did). We did find that the tonic water did not leave a pretty taste to the cocktails so we ruled that out for each of the 3 cocktails. The Cosmopolitan is my fave of the three, and the one I had the most fun experimenting mixing.

The Apple Poitini reminded me of Sour Apple Mickey Finns! It was nice but to tone down the sourness the 7Up suited this one more, otherwise the shot glasses were going to come out!

Now for us this was the no-no of the 3. None of us could get the right mix for this and the cherry flavour is extremely strong, but that's not to say it isn't for you. These drinks will all come down to personal taste and finding the right mix.

Overall I like the thinking behind these cocktails and how much attention has been paid to detail with the brand and packaging. I would welcome the range to expand and have fun experimenting with the different flavours in future. I think these cocktails would work well for an after dinner party, or small get together.

Please remember to drink responsibly! Please check out the Drink Aware Website for tips, campaigns & education on drinking.

What do you think? Would you like to try these out? Or have you tried these out?

Physicians Formula: Review of Mineral Wear Pressed Powder & Organic Wear 100% Natural Lash Boosting Mascara

Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Pressed Powder in Translucent €17.90

I've been loving using powders this year and trying new ones out. As someone who suffers from dry skin but also an oily T-zone I find it hard to find the right powder. Up until recently I was using a Catrice powder just to keep the shine at bay until I found something more suitable and ta da Physicians Formula happened. The powder & mascara were kindly sent to me for review and the powder has come up thrumps for me.

The packaging feels a little bulky but it does have the added bonus of a great mirror and space at the bottom for some cotton pads. It does come with a brush but I didn't find it any good as it was a bit harsh, and I prefer to use a buffing brush with this powder as it gives the best finish and prevents the cakey appearance. I love carrying it with me for little touch ups as the redness starts to creep through my makeup, and with one swipe my face looks refreshed and keeps the shine away. I really like that it smoothed out the lines around my eyes and there is no scent from this so no breakouts for me for once! I found this product very useful and definitely would buy again.

Organic Wear 100% Natural Lash Boosting Mascara €14.90

I absolutely adore the packaging of the Organic Wear 100% Natural Lash Boosting Mascara, it's shaped like a leaf and I've never seen anything like it before. It took me a while to get round to using this as I was having some eye problems so mascara has been off my radar for awhile. As a mammy I love anything quick and easy to get the makeup done in a flash, this really doesn't suit that lifestyle. To get the volume and length that I like from a mascara I found that I had to build up to about 3 coats of this, but it takes time due to it's lengthy drying time.

I do like the deep black colour of this mascara and the thicker brush. Another plus was that when I wore this I didn't notice any flakiness so that's always a great thing.

Keep an eye out for Physicians Formula as they roll out to pharmacies soon. All products are under €20!!!
