MAC Eyeshadows and Longwear Blush with Swatches

The only time I've seen MAC products is from reading blogs or magazines. I've never seen their products up close or got to swatch anything from them. That is, until now!

Just a quick story on how I am finally the proud owner of MAC products now. My Mum & Dad were on trip to Cork recently and I get a call from Mum as she stands by the MAC counter in Brown Thomas with Dad. First thing I hear is "At MAC counter your Dad is trying to pick something out for you" I nearly dropped the phone as you can imagine. After a lot himming and humming Aisling from MAC at Brown Thomas comes on the phone and asks a few question on my likes, my complexion, and skin type! She was so nice to come on the phone to help out. She picked up a few things for Dad to choose but I was left in the dark until they got back 2 days later.

So without further ado this is what my amazing Daddy got me:

MAC Pro Longwear Blush in Stay Pretty €26.00

I do love my blush, always have and always will. My collection is starting to burst at this stage, but this beautiful warm pink is up there as an all time favourite now (so thinking of doing a roundup of my faves if you are all interested?). The blush itself is silky and easy to apply with any tool you have, I've used my Ecotools powder brush, Real Techniques "blush brush and in a rush", and one day I used my fingers, all giving a great finish. I find it easy to work with and builds up to a fantastic stronger looking pink. I always find that when using this blush it does something for my whole complexion, it just brightens it up even when not using a primer. It really does last all day on me too as even when the foundation has completely worn off the blush is still there.

MAC Eyeshadows in Parfait Amour & Sable €16.50
Next up are the eyeshadows, Parfait Amour Frost and Sable Frost. I'm loving the shimmery red toned brown that is Sable and use it as an all over eyeshadow colour or have used it in my crease. I find that I'm reaching for it more and more to add to my eye looks. The Sable applies really well and is creamy with great pigmentation that lasts all day. On the other hand the blue toned purple just gives a wash of colour and I really feel that an eye primer is needed, or cream base, but even at that it looks nothing like it does in the pan and looks more blue when applied.

The packaging is simple with it's black finish but from what I've seen they like to have fun too and I'm really looking forward to seeing the Simpson collection that is coming soon. Do I think they are worth the price? The blush, yes. If the one I tried is anything to go by I will buy more of them! (Yes, I can see a collection happening in my house now).

Eileen's Corner: Skincare Update feat Hydraluron & Pixi Glow Reviews

Hello everyone!

I recently added a few new products to my skincare routine so thought I would do a review on them.

First up is Hydraluron Moisture Booster Serum from Indeed Labs. My skin is dehydrated especially my cheeks and forehead so I'm always looking for the perfect product to help with this and I think I've found it! I had read about this on Caroline Hirons blog. She raves about it so I decided I would give it a try. This serum disappears almost immediately into my skin - this was something I was not used to as with my usual facial oils and serums I would spend some time massaging them in and could almost always still feel the product on my skin after. You would be tempted to put on more but don't. A small amount will do and spreads easily. It must be followed with a moisturiser.

I have to say even the first morning after using it skin looked better. I've been using it for three weeks now and my skin is glowing and looks more plumped. I use it twice a day. I am also seriously impressed how my make up looks. No more clinging to the little dry spots on my cheeks. For me this will be a repurchase for sure. I love it!

Which leads me nicely onto the newest product from Indeed Labs which is Hydraluron Moisture Jelly. This a recent launch so I've just been using it a week after I apply the serum. I really like this too. I think it's especially nice in this warm weather we are having, again it sinks in quickly as it's a gel as opposed to a cream. I love the pump as when you press it once it dispenses the correct amount of product for application. I'm not sure this would be enough for my skin in the winter but for now I'm very happy with it. It compliments the serum very well but you do not have to use this with the serum especially if you are happy with the moisturiser in your routine.

Both the Hydraluron products are suitable for all skin types and can be purchased from Boots either in-store or online. They are currently on offer at €21.66 for the serum and €19.99 for the moisture jelly. Both are 30ml size.

The final product is Pixi Glow Tonic - another product that has a huge following. It is an acid toner that is alcohol and oil free. It contains aloe vera & ginseng to soothe and nourish and 5% glycolic acid which gently exfoliates the skin. I love using this - my skin feels great after and not all dry. Since I started both this and the serum I see a great improvement in my skin. This is another product I will continue using and can highly recommend it. It is suitable for normal-dry, sensitive and ageing skin types. It can be used twice a day and comes in very generous size of 250ml. Make sure you use SPF after this toner in the daytime as glycolic acid makes the skin more sensitive to sunlight.  It can be purchased in Ireland from Mise Beauty at misebeauty.com for €19.65.  Have any of you tried these products? Please let me know your thoughts.

 Until next time!  Eileen xx

Holos - Skincare from Nature Review

A couple of months ago I was introduced to Niamh from Holos Skincare from Nature, and she kindly sent me some products to review! If you follow me on Facebook and Twitter you will know already how much I have been raving about Holos products. All the products are handcrafted in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford, with Niamh's passion for essential oils and natural lifestyle which led to Holos Skincare to be born.

Love Your Skin Range:

So for six weeks I have been trying out the Love Your Skin Range from Holos and I am so impressed! The range incorporates Rose, Palmerosa, Benzoin & Frankincense with cleansing witch hazel and coconut.
Each product really compliments the other and work like a dream. My skin would be combination verging more to the dry side especially with the heat we are having lately. The Palmerosa has helped with hydrating my skin again, which I think has helped balance out my skin. My skin hasn't felt so soft in so long and I noticed that some scars I've had since I was kid from an accident were fading so off I went to do some research, and I discovered that Rose oils help aid the healing and fade scarring.

The cleanser is now one of two favourites I have and will purchase time and time again. It also managed to tackle taking off Benefit's They're Real Mascara & Push-up Liner, which we all know is a pain to get off. It leaves my skin feeling soft and squeaky clean.

The Floral Toner is the outright winner for me, I have never gotten on with toners I find them to strip my skin and leave my skin screaming for moisture. This, however, I have been reaching for everyday and can say with confidence that I never skip toning my face on a daily basis. The glass bottle is just fabulous too.

The Face Cream is fast absorbing leaving skin soft and really hydrated. I love how my face feels refreshed and ready for the day after using this.

Let's talk packaging:

I really love that the packaging is kept simple and not over the top or fussy to look at, and they look great on my dressing table but they are also the ones that stick out the most due to the simplicity! Both the day cream and cleanser have little safety catches on them so they weren't going to leak everywhere (I kept the safety catch for when I travel). My favourite is the toner, with it's green glass bottle looking very vintage.

Overall Thoughts:
A beautiful range that has worked wonders for my skin! I also think the prices are worth it as I have seen a dramatic difference in my skin. I've also had compliments on how great my skin is lately and I have to put it down to using Holos skincare. Also there's not been a breakout to be seen, which is unusual for me. The scent of the products is quite strong and can linger all day which might not be everyones cup of tea, but I love the middle note of palmarosa oil coming through and find it relaxes me especially at night.

 Prices:
Love Your Skin Cleansing Cream (100ml) - €19.20
Love Your Skin Floral Toner (100ml) - €15.20
Love Your Skin Face Cream (50ml) - €15.70

Rating:
5/5

Giveaway: Tweet Your Way to Success by Samantha Kelly our very own Tweetinggoddess

Welcome to the latest LilliWhiteRose giveaway.  This is a special one as it is very personal to me. For this giveaway, I'll be sending one lucky winner a copy of "Tweet Your Way To Success" by someone that I've met through Twitter and can honestly say have developed a real friendship with, Samantha Kelly (@Tweetinggoddess).

Samantha actually lives close to me, but if not for Twitter we probably would have passed on the street like ships in the night. I've been following and interacting with Samantha since my early days on Twitter but our friendship didn't develop properly until we got to finally meet in person last November. She taught me how to optimise Twitter for this very blog, and her advice has been invaluable.

I was delighted to see that I had a thanks in the acknowledgements and that my Twitter story was featured in the book (page 93 I'll have you know)! All the Twitter stories are inspirational and some funny which make for a great read and realisation of "oh yeah I follow them". You will learn how Samantha a Wexford Business woman went from 0 followers to over 14,000 and from lone parent to one of Irelands most influential in her field.

To celebrate the official launch of the book today (8/8/14) in the Wexford Book Centre at 6:30pm I have a copy to give away (RRP: €9.99).

So, whether you're a budding business owner that wishes to take advantage of some free advertising on Twitter, a newbie to the world of social networking, or even an old hand that would like to learn some new tricks, this is the book for you.

The giveaway is open to residents of the Republic of Ireland and winner will be announced during #Irishbizparty next Wednesday!

MonuSpa: 5 in 1 Super Sculpt Body Lotion

A couple of months back I was given the opportunity to try out Monu Spa 5 in 1 Super Sculpt Body Lotion. I really gave this a workout so I could give you the full lowdown.

The 5 in 1 Super Sculpt contains ingredients to help anti-ageing, lifting/toning, firming, cellulite, and even out skin tone. It is recommended to use 4-6 weeks for best results.

What's in this Super lotion to help:

Sculptosane to give a firming effect on the skin, reduce cellulite and smooth the contours of the body, it also helps reduce water retention.

Fucoidan protects against the deterioration of elastin resulting in improved elasticity.

Aescin works at reducing spider veins and protects the skin.

Caffeine to help increase circulation, lymphatic drainage and assists detox!

So for 8 weeks I tried it out using upward strokes to massage into the skin every morning and evening. It did take about 5 weeks before I noticed the difference, and I was really happy with how it tackled a few problem areas.

The problems areas I have are, stretch marks on tummy (from pregnancy), spider veins on my legs (from pregnancy), Hips & arms that need toning. The difference was astounding after I finished the product, and I really noticed the difference after I ran out.

The lotion itself is beautiful and spreads generously across the skin so a little does go a long way. I also really love the packaging especially the unusual top where the product came out. The scent also is gorgeous it reminds me of roses. It does stay on the skin all day, and I think that could be down to the fact that 100% essential oils are used. Overall it feels like a very luxurious product!

After using this I do feel like I was after having a Spa treatment. It's a bit pricey coming in at €50 but definitely recommend especially if nothing else has worked for you!

So after years of seeking out a product to tackle these problems for me I've finally came across one that does what it says.

Monu Spa also do not test out on animals, they are paraben free, and sulphate free.
