Netflix Recommendations* for January for Mum, Dad and Kids

I have discovered the joy of Netflix due to the fact I have joined the #netflixstreamteam. My sky planner is approaching max due to the fact I am watching so much on Netflix so decided I would bring some recommendations your way that you possibly might enjoy for Mum, Dad and little ones.

For Mum:
"The Good Wife"

This legal drama series focuses on Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies "ER"), whose husband Peter Florrick (Chris Noth "Sex and the City"), a former Cook County state's attorney, has been jailed following a very public sex and corruption scandal. Alicia returns to her old job as a litigator (having taken 13 years out to be a stay-at-home mother) to provide for her two children. This show is set apart from other legal dramas by a number of factors. The series features a strong cast of characters and in turn strong actors playing them, not to mention the clever writing and ability of an episode to go from high drama to light hearted humour in the space of mere minutes.

The first four seasons are available now on Netflix.

For Dad:
"Justified"

Set in Kentucky, "Justified" start Timothy Olyphant as Deputy US Marshall Raylon Givens. A former Kentucky native, he returns home after a number of years and gets dropped right back into family feuds, and is reacquainted with old friends who may or may not stay friends. I must admit, I was enjoying the first few episodes but wasn't loving it. Around half way through the season though, everything just clicked into place and it's just gotten better and better. The writing is sharp and the characters are all well developed. Raylon is such a great character, and he's practically impossible not to like. The funny thing about him is that he's as cool as a cucumber when having a gun pointed at his head, but dealing with his family, in particular his father and ex-wife, his confidence hits the floor. The setting of the show is such that when you fire up an episode, it's like going to your local and having a good chat with some old friends.

The first four seasons are available now on Netflix.

For The Kids:
Turbo Fast

A spin off from the Dreamworks movie "Turbo", this Netflix produced spin off is a sugar rush of a show. Using "flash" animation instead of the now popular computer generated style that's employed by most cartoon series nowadays, this is one that uses it's bright colours, quickfire dialogue and high gag rate means it'll grab kids attention and keep it. The first five episodes are currently available which were released on 24th December 2013. The first episode is the full twenty minutes and the other four are split into two, eleven minute mini-episodes. More episodes are due to land around the major holidays during 2014.

Let me know in the comments what you think or maybe you have a recommendation for me? I would love to know x

*Disclaimer: I have recently become a member of the Netflix Stream Team and for this I received a complimentary subscription for one year & an Apple TV (Box). All opinions are my own, and I will be posting once a month in relation to Netflix Stream Team. Stay tuned........

2013 Favourites: Amazing Year for Amazing Products

I wasn't planning on doing one of these posts but after enjoying reading so many of them over the last week or two I just had to join in with my lot.

1. Cocoa Brown 1hr Tan
This was the one that blew me away totally this year! Before I got this I hadn't used a fake tan in about 5-7 years as I could never do them and the smell and colours were always awful. This beauty breaks all the rules when it comes to fake tans and does it right! Smells great, looks great, no fuss and leaves my skin glowing. I am a bridesmaid in February and this is what I will be using to get my glow on. I reviewed this in full and you can read all about it here.

2. URBAN DECAY Glinda Palette
This has been my holy grail of palettes this year and always end up going back to it. I got a new makeup bag at Christmas and it fits in perfectly so I will never be without it. It was a limited edition but if you manage to get your hands on one I did a full review here for you. It retailed at €40.00 and you get a travel eyeliner and lip crayon with it, so it was definitely best buy of 2013 too.

3. VO5 Plump It Up!
I have really fine/limp hair and backcombing just damages it, so when I discovered this little wonder I had to try it out. It works as a dry shampoo and it lifts the root just like backcombing would, so now my hair looks fuller and with more body. I absolutely love this product which is a bargain at €4.59

4. Bourjois Radiance Reveal Healthy Mix Foundation.
I love the coverage, the colour and the radiance it brings. Another bonus is that it manages to stay on me the whole day which is never happens for me with my foundations. This was €13.99 and would recommend it.

5. Hask Argan Oil.
I go nowhere without this, it makes my hair so healthy looking and with less frizz. I think since June I have gone through 4 of these. I use it on my hair after it is washed and then after it is dried and styled. I can see me using this the whole way through 2014 too.

6. The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter
I can't rave about this enough, it amazing and got it's own review here. My skin is great when I use this but the minute I stop and use something else it is noticeable that I am not using it. It feels amazing on the skin and even though it's a butter it doesn't leave your skin greasy. At €14.95 some may think it is a bit pricey but there is loads in it and it lasts for ages and gets that makeup off with ease.

7. HD Brows Bronzer.
I got this in a Glossybox and I have to say I was skeptical about it as I have never gotten on well with bronzers, but this is my favourite and I am getting braver using it every time. Once this runs out I will purchase this with out hesitating. So far I haven't hit pan and I have had it a few months now, I am also not sure of the price of this in Euro so need to hunt down where I can get it in Ireland.

8. L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream.
This is my Holy Grail of hand creams! I love hand creams and will admit to having an ever expanding collection. For years I have been looking for "The One" and this is it. It might not suit everyone as it is not the quickest for soaking in (here's looking at you Squidgy Moments) but that could just be me as I am not liberal with it at all. My hands seem to repair in front of my eyes when I use this and the dryness is gone in a blink! This is also one of the most expensive I own with a 150ml costing €23.00 but my hands are worth it.

9. Catrice Glamour Doll Volume Mascara Waterproof
Mascara would be my desert island makeup and I love trying out new ones all the time. I always run out really quick. I was in a rush one day and I was all out of mascara when I picked up this blue packaged beauty. It is a rarity for me to repurchase the same mascara but this is one I have bought a few times. It is a bargain which I think cost me €4.59.

So that's it for my 2013 favourites I would love to know what yours were? So let me know in the comments section below. Also have you got high hopes for a certain product in 2014? Mine would be the Cleanse Off Mitt.

Review: Cleanse Off Mitt

Guest Post

I was delighted to be sent a Cleanse Off Mitt to try out, as a qualified Beauty Therapist, I have always hated make up wipes so this is a very much needed and welcome product to the skincare market.

While I personally have never used make up wipes, I met many clients when I worked as a beauty therapist who used them all the time to remove their make up, an idea which filled me with horror!!
As many people are aware, the most important part of a skincare routine is cleansing, what is the point in toning and moisturizing skin when it still has traces of make up on it? Clean skin is vital if you want to keep your pores from becoming clogged and your follow on products, toner/serum/moisturiser/eye cream to work for you.

I double-cleanse my skin every night using a pre-cleanser followed by a cream cleanser and warm flannel so I was interested to see how the Cleanse Off Mitt would do in removing my make up. I have used it a few times now and I am impressed.
It removed all of my make up including mascara with ease. As per the instructions after I had cleansed my skin I washed it with anti-bacterial soap and used the handy little hook to hang it up to dry. I washed it after a few days in the washing machine and it came out perfectly.
I still cleansed my skin after with my normal cream cleanser so for me the mitt will be used as a pre-cleanser in my routine.

I would happily recommend this product and I have a feeling it will do very well indeed. Well done to the Cleanse-Off Mitt Team.
