October Favourites

Hi Everyone, hope everyone had a great October and please please be safe at Halloween there are dangers lurking! I have loved everything this month from the cosy weather to all the beautiful autumn makeup that has been coming out. So I thought I would bring you my favourite items for October!

Sleek Palette i-Divine in Vintage Romance
The Vintage Romance Palette is the first item I have ever bought from Sleek, which I got from Cloud10Beauty earlier this month. The colours are out of my comfort zone but I have loved doing Autumn eye looks with it. The pigments is just beautiful and I have a feeling I might hit pan on the berry colours by the end of November!

Hask Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioners.
Hask gave me an amazing opportunity to try out their new Argan Oil Shampoos and conditioners and I am loving them a lot and they are a bargain at €4.50 from Pennys. Review here.

Sleek Blush in Antique
Another Sleek product that I have been loving is the Antique blush, also out of my comfort zone for a blush but is gorgeous on my pale Autumn skin and goes really well with the looks I have been achieving with the Vintage Eye palette.

The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter
I done a review of this already and you can check it out here! I think this cleanser is brilliant I think I will be using this for a long time to come.

Stars Blanket
My mum got this for me and I am using it a lot, it is so warm, cosy and super soft. You can usually find this on the couch during the evening time with Lillibug and I under it and then I use it on my bed at night. Thanks Mum your the best!

What have your favourites been this month? Let me know in the comment section below :)

Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter from The Body Shop

I'm not sure about you but Camomile always reminds me of my childhood. With all the rashes and allergies I had, my mum would dollop Camomile all over me and I would be instructed not to scratch or forever be scarred! Yes of course I scratched, and yes I have been scarred for life. Oh why didn't I listen! So when I saw Girl Friday's review of the collection I was brought right back to those memories and just needed to try out what The Body shop had to offer.

I decided to go with the Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter, as I have been wanting to try a cleansing butter for awhile now.

The Product:
A cleanser that effectively melts away makeup and impurities to leave your skin silky smooth and soft. It is suitable for all skin types. The texture is butter-like, but it reminds me of melted wax from a candle.

How to Use:
Apply to dry skin and massage in. This results in the butter melts into your skin. Either rinse away with warm water or use a wet muslin cloth for a deeper clean.

The Packaging:
A simple, durable, silver tin that you unscrew to reveal your cleansing butter.

Overall Verdict:
I absolutely love this. It is my go to cleanser this month and I really want to get more of the products in the Camomile range. I was a bit worried about using a butter thinking it would make my skin greasy and I already have an oily T-zone but I was so wrong! This calms my skin and makes it silky smooth. My skin looks less red around my nose and chin area which I am putting down to using Camomile. Overall I am delighted with how my skin is looking since using this. A little goes a long way so it is really worth the money.

Review: Hask Argan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner

Imagine my joy when the lovely people of Hask sent me these beautiful goodies in September and now I get to bring you the first of my reviews on these products. These may have been sent to me but regardless of this, I will always give my honest opinion.

Oh! What is peeking out here :)

The Product:
Hask now brought us Shampoo and Conditioner to their range of Argan Oil from Morocco, which claims to strengthen and restore your hair. I absolutely love how these are sulphate and paraben free, no artificial colours and also not tested on animals. It is meant to calm your frazzled hair and restore your damaged hair, leaving it silky soft, glossy and frizz-free. It smells gorgeously sweet and fruity but not overpowering. So that all sounds promising!

The Packaging:
Both come in a brown 355ml plastic bottle with a sky blue cap, I like how it compliments the Argan Oil Vile and 2-minute conditioner sachet. I love the sky blue border framing the writing too.

Overall Verdict:
This summer I was all about looking after my hair so I didn't think I could do any more for it, but I was so wrong......
The shampoo is divine and lathers quickly and feels like your getting a deep clean so clean that it's squeaky! The scent lasts in between washing which has now gone from every day to every second day for me. My hair is glossy, has some bounce and swish (which is great as my hair is flat as a pancake). Overall it looked healthy. I also dyed my hair about two weeks ago and it hasn't stripped it at all.

The conditioner is also brilliant. I will put my hands up I don't use conditioner very often but I am using this every time and it just works great. Conditioners have a tendency to just make my already fine flat hair even more lifeless but this worked just as well as the shampoo.

My hair now smells and looks great and I'm really happy with the results. The colder weather is settling in which dries out my hair and scalp even more, so these have been great products for me! Both the Shampoo and conditioner are budget friendly products that I believe compete with any of my other shampoos and conditioners.

Glossybox October 2013: Dark Romance

I have to say I was in two minds about doing a review of this months Glossybox, but decided it would be unfair not to bring a review even if it is bad, good or indifferent. I am here to give my honest reviews to you.

This months theme is Dark Romance: I believed from sneak peeks on Twitter and Facebook that this box would have an autumnal feel to it, leaning more towards cosmetics. Alas I was very very wrong!

So what was in this months box you ask?! Well here we go.....

MeMeMe Cherub's Blush-Cheek & Lip Tint
First off on opening this I got the smell of Turkish Delight. Yummy! The product reminds me of Benefit Benetint but this is a more affordable dupe. It blends nicely and gives a lovely rosy glow to my cheeks. It is lovely on the lips.

Vita Liberata Latte Illuminating Skin Finish
This offers SPF 25 and a flawless medium bronzing to the skin. It also has subtle shimmery particles to capture the light. I have yet to use this as I'm keeping away from any sort of Tan in the Autumn/Winter months.

Monu Illuminating Primer
This is my fourth product of Monu from Glossybox, as much as I have liked the Monu products and use them all I'm getting a little bored of the same things now. I have been using the Primer and I really like it, my makeup is lasting and gives a love glow to my skin.

Premae Multi-Vit Smoothie Serum
Allergen free which is always good especially for my skin. The serum helps redness and hydrate your skin and keeps it matte and shine free. You can mix with your liquid foundation to create a shine free BB Cream. I have yet to try this but I am intrigued.

Unica Kiss It Better Cream
This contains Prebiotics and is for sensitive and eczema prone skin, I put this on my elbow the other night as I had a break out of eczema and I have to say it was really nice. It soaked in really well and brought down the inflammation. Another bonus is it's suitable for younger kids too. Just a pity the sample was so tiny!

So overall I am pretty disappointed with this months Glossybox, I just don't get the Dark Romance theme as the only thing that was in my box that could suggest that is the MeMeMe Cheek & Lip tint. The samples didn't really excite me, and I'm getting fed up of receiving Monu products over and over again it's getting tedious. There's nothing wrong with the products themselves, but the sample sizes left a lot to be desired especially considering the quality of some previous boxes. I am going to continue till Christmas when my subscription is up, but come New Year I will be looking for something else to put my money towards.

The Glossybox usually costs me in and around €15.60 but this months exchange rate brought it to €16.05, which made the contents of this box all the more disappointing.

Review: Tangle Teezer. Is it Worth the Hype?

After seeing so much hype over the Tangle Teezer earlier in the summer I took the plunge and decided to try it out myself. So read on to see if I think the rave reviews were warranted.

The Product:
The Tangle Teezer Original in hot pink claims to glide through your hair without pulling, tugging, or yanking. They come in a variety of colours. It can be used on all hair types. It works on wet hair to evenly distributed your conditioner or hair treatment, and used after for complete and utter smoothness. It is made of plastic and the bristles are of different lengths to help it run smoothly through your hair.

The Packaging:
It comes in a clear plastic box with details of how to care for it and how it works.

The Verdict:
I have fine, dry, damaged hair, that due to health problems I had lost some hair around my hairline early this year, it has thankfully started growing back in July. So this summer I decided I wanted to get my hair into shape and really take care of it and the Tangle Teezer seemed like just the thing I needed. I have been using it since the middle of June and I am really delighted with the results. It distibuted products that I put in evenly, detangled my hair, and my split ends are non-existent even my hairdresser commented on how healthy my hair is. My hairdresser usually has to take about 3-4 inches off every two months because of my split ends but this time only 1 inch was taken. It's about time too as I have been trying to grow my hair for years and finally starting to get to a length I'm happy with.

I have been using this also on my LO who is 2 in November, her hair is thick and curly and gets really knotty and she even goes for the Tangle Teezer after her hair is washed it also makes brushing her hair so much quicker as it just glides through. It is working really well on both of us and for Lillibugs 2nd birthday I think I will get the Flowerpot so she can put her bobbles in it. So without a doubt, for us it was worth the hype!

Benefit Rockateur Cheek Powder

The new addition to Benefit's Box o' Powder range is Rockateur!

The Product:
A blush which consists of Pink, Peach and Rose Gold with shimmer. The shimmer however is only a layer on top and after just 4 uses it disappeared to leave a semi-matte finish on the skin. The powder is baked to give a higher colour payoff which lasts all day, which I have to agree with. There is 5g of product which is a bone of contention among some me included, especially as it's the same price as other Box o' Powders, it does however state on the website it lasts as long, and I know some who have gotten this in June and haven't hit pan yet so that's a good sign.

The Packaging:
Black lace, gold crocodile skin, chains and studs, you can't miss it among the other Box o' Powders. It comes with a mirror in the lid which is very small and I have only used it once.

Overall Verdict:
On my pale white Irish skin I find this works too much like a bronzer and if I try and build it up it can look orange. For this to work for me I have to use a light hand and when I do get it right it can lift my skin. The pigment isn't the most amazing when swatched but the powder does last all day. So far the blush is holding up well with no cracks or breakage. As I said before I know a few that have had this since June and have yet to hit pan, but I find that the whole thing has been misleading by Benefit and I am not impressed with the price tag. The colour might not be for everyone, and even after a month I am still on the fence with this one. I do like the new angled brush that is in it and it is nice for applying the product.

Benefit Brow Bar at Debenhams Waterford.

I was down in Waterford over a week ago and unexpectedly ended up going into the city centre so I decided to wander into Debenhams.

There was a girl from Benefit out on the shop floor asking if people were interested in getting their eyebrows done, the fact that she was so sweet and nice made me even more intrigued in what she had to say. Usually if someone wants to get at my eyebrows I run a mile.

She brought me up to the Benefit brow bar and gave me a consultation, she knew how nervous I was and made me feel at ease. Now it's not that I have never got my eyebrows done, but I find that some beauticians in the past have gone over board with my eyebrows and I end up very disappointed and upset. I explained this so it was decided she would colour in my eyebrows to show the shape she would give me and how much she was taking off. This really truly helped so I said "go ahead".

Roisin is the girl you need to go to. It's amazing that she could get me to say yes so that shows how much faith I had in her! I am absolutely delighted with the shape and the fact that she in no way thinned them or shortened them. So my next appointment is at the end of October and really looking forward to it, she is even going to tint them for me so I'm both nervous and excited about that as it will be a first. Another thing that I really liked about my experience is that I didn't have to leave the place with two big red blotches, the girls covered that all up with some foundation and powder, so I was ready to face the world and continue shopping!

You can find the girls on Facebook here and would highly recommend!
You also get a loyalty card exclusive to Debenhams, you pay €16.00 for your first eyebrow wax and get a stamp, your second trip you get a free eyebrow tint, 6th 250 reward club card points, 8th free upgrade, 10th free brow arch, 12th free benefit Deluxe gift! You also get a Free Brow Arch on your birthday if you bring I.D. So how amazing is all that?!

Let me know your experience at the Benefit Brow Bar in the comments below, I would love to hear all about it.
