Many a fail I have had with makeup removers over the years, the biggest would have to be the use of wipes and to be more specific Baby Wipes!
Lillibug was born 22 months ago so there is now an endless supply of baby wipes in our house and they do have many a use. For sheer handiness I was using them for removing my makeup, and using them way too much. The reason they fail is (in my opinion):
1. Not meant for removing makeup
2. Too harsh on my face.
3. Dry out my skin.
4. Tugs at my skin.
5. Not a deep enough clean.
So my skin was starting to look dull and got really dried out and very blotchy, that even with my other cleansers and toners they couldn't correct anything. Now for the last 3 months I have not let a baby wipe touch my face and my skin has gone back to normal again!
Another Fail would have to be Nivea Daily Essentials Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover......YUCK! I hate this stuff near my eyes and as you can see that even after 6 months I can not bring myself to touch this, so I really think it's time for the bin. It just feels so greasy and it always seems to go into my eye so the world can look murky for a few seconds.... and it doesn't take off my mascara :(
I only have one favourite at the moment and it is a great all rounder because it does my face as well as my eyes. It doesn't move the dirt around my face because it acts like a magnet on the makeup and soaks it all onto the cotton ball. I have recently reviewed the L'Oreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution (click for review) and can't recommend it enough. It removes my makeup, cleanses, tones and smooths so it is perfect. Within 24 hours of using this I noticed a difference in my skin!
