#SBBC Day 30: Reflection

What an amazing month doing the September Beauty Blog Challenge, and me oh my it was a challenge. I trailed off the challenge around the 16th because we had no internet, then holidays, and then plenty of hospital appointments so it was a busy busy month in our household!

My goal was to blog everyday but that didn't happen I failed miserably at it. So in future I don't think I will set that goal for myself but still would like to jump in and out of a challenge that allows it.

It was wonderful to follow blogs that I never came across before and chat to new people and it was great to catch up with bloggers that I already knew. The support was immense with retweets, blog comments and mentions.

A special thank you to Girlfriday who put so much effort into hosting the September Challenge, she has put so much work into it and hope that she is proud of herself. Girlfriday brought us all together and hope that we can all continue to support one another in whatever we do on our blogs. Check out Girlfriday's blog here I promise you won't be disappointed I never am :-)

Congratulations everyone in taking part and it was a pleasure to chat to you all and read all your posts this month.

#SBBC Day 30: September Favourites:

This month I have loads of favourites that I have been using on an everyday basis!

1. L'Occitane Immortelle Anti-Ageing Skincare Travel Set
I absolutely love this and having been using it for a month now, saving for the bigger jar moisturiser I love it so much.

2. Max Factor Whipped Creme Foundation
I got this in 55 Beige which is now to dark for as I am not wearing any tan, so going to purchase the lighter one next. It lasts all day and gives me a matte finish.

3. Benefits Rockateur
I don't want to say too much about this as I will have a review coming soon on this so keep an eye out.

4. Nivea Lip butter Raspberry Rose
I am never without this and it's always at the ready in my handbag.

5. Real Techniques Starter Set for Eyes
This was my first from Real Techniques and now I have the Core Collection on the way in the post! Absolutely love the brushes and will never be without them.

6. The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter
After seeing Girlfriday's review of this I was really intrigued so when I got the 40% discount code for the Body Shop I knew it was a must. This cleansing butter is amazing on my skin and I would buy it again.

7. Benefit POREfessional
I've noticed that my pores were more noticeable than usual so out popped this from my stash. It always does the job and is a great primer.

8. Sleek Lip Gloss High Shine
This was actually a sample from my Cloud 10 Beauty order and I love it. I'm not usually into glosses or lipsticks but this in the colour (In Your Dreams) has changed my mind.

9. Urban Decay Oz The Great and Powerful Palette (Glinda)
I think everyone knows at this stage how much I love this palette and I have used it nearly everyday this month. Check out my review here.

WOW! I had a lot of favourites this month but they truly were fantastic.
Both the Glinda palette & L'Occitane Precious Creme were featured in a previous favourites post, that's how much I love them.
What was your favourite go to product this month?

Disney Cakes & Sweets Weekly Magazine

Not sure if any of you have seen these, but I saw the Disney Cakes & Sweets Magazine advertised on telly recently and have decided to collect them for Lillibug.

I do like baking but i'm not the greatest (according to my Dad's wedding speech) and I thought it would be a great idea to collect and try out the recipes with Lillibug.

The first three magazines have the instructions on how to make the big princess castle which I really really want to try and succeed at, because it is my plan to try and make it for Lillibug's birthday in November. Maybe I'm running away with myself but it is going to be interesting to see how I get on.

Some of the recipes have different difficulties so going to start with a few of the lower ones first like Piglet's snuffle truffles in above picture.

Then I'm going to move up to Tinker Bell's fairy-wing cupcakes.

The magazines are weekly and cost €5.99 which I think so far are reasonable as we are getting the moulds and what we need for decorating the castle with them.

So I am thinking of doing posts on how I progress with this series of baking and wondering if you would be interested in the posts? So let me know what you think in the comment section below.

Available in your local newsagents or you can subscribe here.
Issue 1 Cost €1.99 Issue 2 €3.99 these were promotional prices and issue 3 on wards will cost €5.99.

#SBBC: September Empties

I have very little in the way of empties this month, but thought I would show you anyway!

1. Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan
A firm favourite of mine and I think I have gone though 3 of these since June.
You can check out my review of this here. So now that the summer is well and truly gone I will be hanging up my fake tan till next year (unless it's special occasion).

2. Batiste Big & Bouncy XXL Volume Dry Shampoo
This was my first time to try Dry Shampoo and it does make a difference to my fine limp hair in between washes. So going to buy again for sure.

3. L'Oreal 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution
You may already know that this is a firm favourite with me and I seem to get through the month on 1 bottle. For my review on this click here.

4. L'Occitane Precious Cream
I got this free in a magazine last month, and oh how I love it. I loved this so much I went and bought the travel set so I could try out the foam cleanser and toner and really liking the whole set. I would love to get the full size jar of this at Christmas (so hubby if your reading take note).

5. Beautiful Movement Cosmetics Prime & Create Mixing Medium
I got this in a Glossybox a few months back and left it to one side, until a few weeks ago! Really is a great primer once I got over the fact it was a gel and left a smooth base for my foundation to go on. Also extended how long my foundation lasted with a matte finish. This can also be mixed with other powders to create different makeup finishes which I didn't try at all as I didn't have enough in the sample. Will look out for this and would buy.

What were your favourites this month? I would love to know so leave a comment below :-)

#SBBC Shop My Stash: Rimmel Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch

This has been sitting in my drawer for months now until I saw that this post was coming up on the challenge and fished it out of a very messy forgotten drawer!

I have absolutely no idea why on earth I forgot all about this. It's not the most amazing of products but there is a little bit of magic to be had with this little beaut. I noticed my skin was looking a bit dull and gloomy and I haven't been wearing much makeup of late so this was a great little pick me up.

It doesn't give a major pop like a blusher, but it gives a warm radiant glow to the skin just where you need it. So this really was a great pick me up during the last few weeks.

I'm down with a cold now and running a temperature so I say I could hold off on using this for the rest of the week. Oh Well...........

#SBBC Glossybox Setember The London Edition

I know it seems that this post is going up really late especially as it's nearing the end of September, but Glossybox had an issue with the warehouse company so it was super late getting to me. Now I have to say I wasn't too annoyed as Glossybox got on the situation before I even had the chance to contact them and they e-mailed to let me know all this. As an apology they sent an extra products which I thought was amazing and very kind of them.

This month was the London edition and the box is bright and beautiful.

Really liking the new Glossybox Magazine which is of good quality and content, and the new card which gives you the details of the content in the box. So really liking these two new things that Glossybox have brought to us. There is four full sized products in this months box which is brilliant and exciting.

So let's take a look at what I got:

1. Dr. Lipp Orginal Nipple Balm for Lips

I am so childish when it comes to saying this and continue to have a good auld laugh, but if it does the job I shall laugh no more. In all seriousness I have heard nothing but good things about this, so really looking forward to trying it out.

2. Eyelure Pre-glued Lashes

I have never in my life bought or tried to put on fake lashes, so this is going to be a first for me. Delighted that I don't have to mess with glue so excited to try these out.

3. Toni&Guy Hair Meet  Wardrobe Classic Shine & Gloss Serum

I have tried this already and it didn't suit my hair it makes my hair look flat, so going to give this to my mum who has amazing thick hair and I know this will be more suited for her and will give the shine and gloss.

4. Be A Bombshell Cosmetics Onyx Eye Liner

I've never used a pen/marker style eyeliner before, but this is great and I'm finding it really easy to use so far. I can get in closer to the lashline with the tip and I can do my flick at the end no bother!

5. HD Brows Bronzer

I'm delighted with this little gem, I was in need of a new bronzer so this was a welcomed full size friend. The colour is really warm and wearable plus buildable. I am not a fan of the sponge and I am just using my brush instead for application. The packaging is sleek and compact and the mirror is an extra bonus.

Bonus Items:
As I mentioned at the beginning of this post Glossybox sent some extra products so I completely feel spoiled this month.

1. Gosh Growth Mascara
2. Bolton Brown Recharge Black Pepper Bodywash
3. Monu Warming Aromatic Mask

What did you get this month? Are you thinking of joining Glossybox? Would love to know what you think so please leave a comment and let me know all about it! xx

Glossybox UK can be found here and if you want to see previous boxes I reviewed click here.

#SBBC: Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette

My love for Urban Decay Palettes has really taken over to any others I have lately and when I saw that they had the Vice 2 coming out I just knew I had to jump in and get it straight away!

Outer Packaging

The Product:
Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette

The palette comes with 20 eyeshadows mostly jewel toned, plenty of glitter and some neutrals and some to smoke it up! The textures are buttery and soft and so nice to apply!

It comes with a double ended eyeshadow/blending brush which I think is nice but I prefer to use my Real Techniques brush set for eyes.

Close Up:

Smokeout: Found this to be a dark smokey brown

Lovesick: Glittery matte black

Shellshock: Beautiful highly pigmented metallic silver.

Coax: Metallic pink, and love the tiny bits of glitter in it. The texture is just gorgeous!

X-Rated: Baby pink with a shimmer.

Prank: Matte deep navy with gorgeous blue glitter and it's not chunky glitter.

Madness: Metallic Blue which just reminds me of the water in a tropical lagoon, it has amazing blue tiny glitter.

Strike: Antique gold with shimmer which is beautiful and when i saw this initially i didn't think it was going to be as pigmented as it is.

Stash: Olive green with gold shimmer.

Poison: Charcoal satin with multi-coloured specks of glitter.

Radar: Metallic Brown with chunky glitter but I don't think that it transfers well on to me at all.

Damaged: Metallic Green which transfers beautifully on the eyelids. Love the shimmer too.

Voodoo: Metallic Purple with purple glitter but depending on light can have a blue tint to it.

Betrayal: Satin Purple/Blue. So far I haven't had a clue what to do with this so need to look up some tutorials because I can't let this go to waste!

Derailed: Metallic Brown which has shimmer.

Dope: Beautiful Champagne Satin, I absolutely love working this in to my eye look.

Toxic: Metallic Copper with Pink Shimmer, not as pigmented as I was expecting but still a lovely colour.

Habit: Nude Matte, this is my least favourite in the palette, I find it doesn't go on to my eyelid smoothly.

Ambush: Metallic Brown Satin, with red tint to it. Texture is fabulous on this one.

Rewind: Brown Matte, which I don't use as it goes on very uneven on me, which you maybe able to see on the swatch.

The Packaging:

The palette is just divine, I love the eye popping purple palette with the crystal effect UD logo on front. You just press the button and up pops your palette automatically to show you your mirror and all your luxurious eyeshadows. Another thing of note is the big mirror and the fact that it stays up and you don't have to hold it.

Overall Verdict:
I love love love the Urban Decay Vice 2 palette and I am experimenting so much with this one as there are so many colours to choose from and mix it all up. The brush that comes with it is one that you will actually keep and use which to me is a bonus (I have a habit of throwing them out). The metallic jewel toned shades are my favourite, but I have experimented with smokey looks and they have come out wonderful with this palette. I would recommend using an eye primer to really intensify the colours, and just to let you know I didn't use one in the swatches.

#SBBC Day 23: Bumps & Falls Toddlers

About Lillibug:
Our little one is reaching 22 months in the next week and all I keep saying is "oh my baby is growing up". Her baby look is well and truly gone, and she is blossoming into an amazing little girl. Her personality is strong emotionally and physically and is extremely social and happy.

The Fall to the Bump:
Lillibug is very strong willed and likes to do things herself with no help, so imagine our complete shock when we saw her going for a big jump off the step of the back door. It all seemed to happen in slow motion, with hubby trying to get to her on time..........but no hubby didn't make it! Lillibug went face first into a concrete slab on the patio!

Now this is our first real experience of such an incident, yes we have dealt with the rashes, high temperatures, colds and flu's but this was a total shock to my system.

Lillibug started crying and clung to her Daddy while I rushed looking for a towel (first towel i could find was a spanking new white one) to clean off the dirt from her face. We were greeted with a whopper of a swollen lip and a cut just under her septum which was "gushing" blood.

Back to Reality:
Lillibug recovered pretty quick, us however it took a little longer. Is she okay? Is she in shock? Are we in shock? Are her teeth damaged? Is it my fault? Those were a lot of questions that went through our heads.
Lillibug went about her afternoon as norm then and no her septum wasn't "gushing blood" it was trickling so that was a major exaggeration on my part. A nice bump on her head later developed but went down after a few hours.

Today she is sporting a nice scab under her nose of which I am convinced she likes to show off as a badge of honour (meaning she has officially gone into her toddler years and she is delighted).

I think I have officially got my first grey hair because of it! Now we know if she is anything like me, she will have many cuts and bruises to go and so I may as well accept that it is going to happen and I cannot wrap her cotton wool.

I also know how far off today's challenge I am but when i sat down to write this is what was on my mind and went with it, and I also haven't written anything Lillbug related in a while.

#SBBC Day 22: My Perfume Story of Life

When I saw this topic coming up a lot of memories came flooding back like a movie in my head, so I thought I would share it with you. So let me take you through my journey of perfumes.................

The Body Shop White Musk is my mums signature scent and has been since I was baby. The Body Shop one was always her go to one which used to be in a tiny clear bottle with a white cap.

Early Teenage Life
Cacharel Lou Lou, this was actually available in our local pound shop and in there it was affordable with our pocket money, so imagine my shock when I googled it to find that it is not really pocket friendly now on some websites.

Mid Teens:

Benetton Hot was for her and Cold was for him. I loved the cold one and my mum loved the Hot perfume, so there was always a bottle floating around until we could no longer get it. Not sure it is something I would like now.

Late Teens:
NOA is what I consider to be my first grown up perfume which my mum and dad got me for my 17th birthday and for many birthdays and Christmases after. I thought the bottle was so pretty and sophisticated that it had pride of place on my bed side cabinet.

Early 20's:
Paco Rabanne Ultraviolet, this reminds me of when I first met my husband as I had just tested it at the local perfume counter before I had encountered him. He then bought it for my birthday 8 months later! This perfume brings me right up to our engagement with so many fun memories.

Wedding Perfume:
Source: Fragrance Direct
I wear ChloƩ on special occasions now, and it is my "Special Perfume". This lasted the entire wedding day and the minute I put it on I get brought straight back to the magic of our wedding day.

Daisy by Marc Jacobs is all about motherhood to me, so I hope Lillibug remembers it like I remember my mums White Musk. I absolutely love the bottle with the daisy's on the cap. It is my everyday go to perfume and it has become my signature scent.

What is your signature scent? Let me know in the comments section.
