L'Oreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution

As you may all know at this stage I am a stickler for my skincare routine and for months now i have heard and read a lot about Micellar Water. I tend not to  jump from one product to the next as this always frightens my skin into a breakout. So when I ran out of my usual cleanser off I went to repurchase my usual, but something caught my eye....... L'Oreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution.

L'Oreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution

The Product:

Comes in a plastic bottle with a flip lid and that's fine by me especially as it was a reasonable price. The Micellar solution acts like a magnet to suck out impurities and draw out excess oil. It cleanses, tones and smooths your skin, and is hypo-allergenic, suitable for sensitive skin (like my own) and can be used on your face, lips and eyes.

You pour (first time I squeezed the bottle and it shot out onto my foot) onto your cotton bud and wipe away all your makeup, no need for rinsing or anything and away you go. For the sake of this review I stopped using my other cleanser and toner and just used this plus my moisturiser. For me it does take 2-3 cotton buds to get my face totally clean and it take 3-4 to take off my mascara and eyeliner etc. This was a winner in my eyes when in this months glossybox I received Sleek Pout Paints that stained my hand and neither baby wipes or good old fashioned soap and water could not shift it off my hand after swatching, but the L'Oreal 3 in 1 got it off in one swipe!

I wouldn't say I had bad skin before this but it was looking a little dull, skin tone could be better, and I had 3 blackheads under my right eye and have had those pesky buggers for a long time and nothing would budge them. Now my skin feels and looks refreshed, skin tone back to normal, and 2 out of the 3 blackheads are gone the other one on the way out! My skin is so soft and smooth now and I am really happy with the results.

Overall Verdict:

I will buy this again especially when I am on a budget, the bottle is lasting well and have only used a third of it so far. I would like to try other brands at some stage but for the moment I am sticking with this. I really was pleasantly surprised with the results and how well my skin is looking. One thing did annoy me and that was how it dispensed out of the tiny hole, I have an awful habit of squeezing the bottle but then it just goes everywhere so have to make sure to pour it on to the bud.

Date Night Collaboration: Your Steps for Beautiful Skin

Date Night Collaboration is a 5 piece blogging collaboration between myself, Amy's Annex, Curled Fantasies,  Little Red and Little Miss Average, it has been very exciting to work with these amazing women and the fun we have had e-mailing and tweeting has been a joy. We have all taken an integral piece that every woman finds important to their preparation for an amazing Date Night.

Amy's Annex is going to have you all sorted with Makeup

Little Miss Average with Hair

Then finally myself with your steps to beautiful skin.

So to get yourself sorted just click on above links and off you go.

I hope you all enjoy our collaboration and would love to hear what you think about it. xx

The Night Before:

1. Exfoliate with Sanctuary Body Scrub so your ready for everything else to happen.

2. Shave your pins & underarms with Johnson's Baby Oil for that smooth close shave that leaves your skin amazingly soft and smooth.

3. Moisturise with Vaseline Spray & Go but if you have time maybe go for something a bit more heavy duty depending on your skin type.

4. For your date night be yourself even if you are a friend of Casper but if you really really want a nice healthy glow I would recommend Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan so make sure you follow the instructions by exfoliating and moisturising in the lead up to your tan.

1. My new favourite at the moment is L'Oreal Skin Perfection Micellar Solution, this dissolves your make-up, tones and smooth your skin.

2. So now add your moisturiser, I am really loving L'Occitane Precious Cream at the moment, and don't for get to add an eye cream like Benefit It's Potent.

3. If you do have any spots I am using Vichy Normaderm Hyaluspot and find it really good for calming those pesky spots

4. So get your shut eye everyone needs their beauty sleep even with the excitement of your date!

Date Night:

1. Now your day makeup will be taken off and would recommend L'Oreal Skin Perfection Micellar Solution once again which will take of your makeup from the day, and leave your face toned and smooth.

2. Follow with moisturiser L'Occitane Precious Cream for your face.

3. Moisturise your body once again with Vaseline Spray & Go.

For some reason I keep skincare simple on date night (I am married but we still like to have date nights when we can get a babysitter) I prefer to spend most of my time deciding on what to wear and like to spend extra time getting my makeup just right.

Now your skin should be in tip top condition and ready for your date, so best of luck girls, enjoy yourselves and most of all be yourself.

Just a Few Tips:
  • Know your skin type and what works for you.
  • Wash your hands before you do your routine that includes skincare and makeup.
  • Try not to touch your face much during the day this transfers dirt and bacteria around the face.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Never squeeze a spot.
  • Use warm water to open up your pores before cleansing.
  • Wear sun protection.
  • Try and build a routine of cleansing, toning and moisturising twice a day (morning & night). Exfoliate once or twice a week and treat yourself to a mask during the week.
  • Never Ever wear makeup to bed.
  • Never share your makeup or tools this can cause bacteria and spread from one person to the other.

I am in no way a skincare specialist this is just a routine that works for me and my skin type. These products may not suit you but are just there for example purposes only.

Vaseline Spray & Go

Aloe Fresh

I have heard some mixed views on Vaseline Spray & Go, so when I saw it in our local Boots I decided to find out for myself and departed with €6.69.

The Product:

It says that it "moisturises in seconds, so you can put your clothes straight on". It has a continuous spray so in quick time it's all over your body ready to be rubbed in, leaving your skin soft with its multi-layer moisture, not sticky and not greasy. So just spray it on rub it in and off you go (make sure to get dressed first, that would be very important!).

The Packaging:

It comes in a pressurised tin container that has a cap which you twist to open and lock, which is great to put in your gym bag or suitcase and not worry.

Soaks in really quick no more sitting like a zombie in a freezing room.
Not sticky.
Non Greasy.
Nice packaging.
Twist lock/open.
Smells Nice.

Can't use it in the bathroom or run the risk of slipping over on the tiles from the mist that falls on it from the product. So would recommend using it while standing on a towel or in a carpeted room. It does state this on the packaging if you can read the small writing on it.
Need to use it twice a day to keep that moisturised feeling.
There are parabens in it.
For those that have dry skin this might not be heavy duty enough for you.
Overall Verdict:

For sheer handiness I really like this product. I have mentioned before my love for anything that saves time as I don't have much for it before little one wakes up. I choose the Aloe Fresh because it is summertime so like something fresh and it helped sooth my sunburned shoulders (so much for factor 50!). My skin has been feeling softer but like to use it again before bed for that extra dose of moisture and for that fresh feeling.

Let me know in comments if you tried this and what your thoughts were on it? Would love to hear from you all xx

Glossybox July 2013

This months theme Seaside Splash!

Seaside Splash? Yes Please!

I was so excited when I opened up the parcel to discover this amazing sea blue box with some reefs on it, with a beautiful blue ribbon and gorgeous paper inside, things are looking promising for what's inside.......

Looks promising

When I opened the box I was absolutely delighted to see it was brighter and more pleasing on the eye compared to last months, and straight away I delved into the box to see what I could use and try and what was new to me.

1. Anatomicals-Spray Mist For Me Facial Spritz:

Starting off with Anatomicals-Spray Mist For Me Facial Spritz. This has been my go to product for the last 6 days due to the unbelievable heat we are having in Ireland at the moment. I like it so much I have been trying to hunt it down to buy another one but can't find it anywhere where I live. This smells absolutely gorgeous and find it to be relaxing. It was really refreshing and moisturising, and has calming lavender and refreshing peppermint extracts to help re-hydrate and calm skin and I believe it done all that for me. It claims to set make-up but I skeptical about that one.

2. Coola Organic Suncare Collection:

I wish this was a bigger sample, nearly out after 3 applications. The Coola Mineral Face SPF 20 Rose Essence Tint, I found to be lightweight and it soaked in very quickly and also thought it stopped me from having a shiny T-Zone longer than usual. I haven't been wearing my full face of make-up in this weather, so I was delighted to find this in my Glossybox. It provides complete UVA/UVB protection and fights free radicals. I didn't find it to be soothing like it said it would, but did find it to tone and minimise my pores.
Coola Organic Swatch

 3. Alterna Haircare:

I don't use any heat tools in the summer I  just let my hair dry naturally and I have a natural wave going through my hair, so thought I would try this and see if it would give it a bit more of.....something. This supposedly gives you beachy waves, texture, volume and healthy shine. This actually flattened out my hair at the ends and it gave no volume but I did like that it wasn't sticky and didn't leave a hard feel to the hair.

4. Essie Sleek Sticks:

I haven't opened this yet I am keeping these for the weekend so if anyone has tried them let me know in the comment section below. I am looking forward to trying them and they like fun.

5. Sleek Makeup Pout Paint

We got a little bonus with these, because they are a pair we ended up really with 6 products in the box. When I saw these I was intrigued, then I put them on my hand to swatch and nearly freaked out.

Seriously a little goes a long way and they are to be mixed together or with your other lipsticks to brighten or add vibrancy. These are not my cuppa tay at all at all, I don't wear anything on my lips except for vaseline so a little wasted on me. I also noticed a watery blob come out which I did not like. There was a lot of questions on twitter as to what to do with these so Glossybox put a piece on their blog about it, so check that out here. Also after the swatch I tried to get it off but no baby wipe are serious scrubbing over the basin would shift this, but I had just bought LOréal Paris Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution and that done the job in two quick swipes. Oh yeah I thought they tasted like sherbet sweets.

Overall I really enjoyed this months Glossybox, the box was beautiful as well as the presentation and the products were spot on. Let me know if you liked your box this month and if you got something different let me know. Will keep going with Glossybox for another while now after this.

Guest Post: Summer Nails by Amy's Annex

Summer Nails!

I have a huge love for nail varnish, and nail art altogether, so when I was asked to do a guest post I jumped at the opportunity as it is right up my street!

Here are my five favourite summer colours so far.  I’m sure when I’m next out shopping I’ll pick up a few more! :P
MUA – Bright Coral, Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine – Prickly Pear, Barry M – Peach Melba, Barry M – Base and Top Coat, Avon Nailwear Pro – Pastel Pink, and lastly Saffron – Colour 54.

I really love this colour as it quite bright! The bottle states that it is a ‘bright coral’ but I see it as more of a hot pink.  Apart from that minor flaw, I cannot fault this product at all. With all the other polishes in the previous picture I had to do two coats, but with this you only need to do one! And it’s only £1!
This has to be one of my all-time favourite nail polishes.  It is Barry M’s Gelly in Prickly Pear and really is beautiful! It’s such a subtle colour, yet manages to stand out from a normal pastel.  The high shine just adds to the beauty.
Again, another colour from Barry M, this time Peach Melba.  This was my favourite nail polish last summer and is still in my top 5 this summer.  It goes with anything and I feel it makes my hands look younger somehow!  I love mixing this colour and the prickly pear as seen above.  I’ve tried to ombre the colours! Although for me it came out a bit messy, which I will perfect over time, the colours together looked amazing blending into one and other.  If you have any pastel colours such as these, try it! I would love to see what it looks like J
Next up is Pastel Pink by Avon.  I love this colour to pieces, but the only flaw with this is the varnish itself.  The colour is amazing, but, when you apply it you have to do two or three coats as it comes out a little chalky and liney.  I’m not sure if there’s any way to stop this, but as you can see in the picture above, it’s not the best quality nail varnish around.  If you can find a colour like this but from a quality brand, then pleaseeeee buy it!

Last up is this beautiful pale blue.  It’s from a very cheap brand from one of those small make up shops usually hidden down an alleyway, although I have seen these floating round eBay for no more than £2 including postage.  Even though it’s so cheap, I would say it’s a much better quality than the Avon one I previously mentioned.  It does need two coats like many polishes, but dries fairly quickly, and is quite shiny and smooth too! J ps sorry about the messiness above, but as you can see, this colour is very easy to apply; it’s practically mess-free!

I hope you have liked my top 5 summer nails! I would love to know what yours are and if you have any of these colours!
I would like to thank the lovely Lilliwhiterose for allowing me to guest post for her!
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed doing it! J
Lots of Love

Amy's Blog can be found here and really recommend taking the time to pop over and have a good read. Amy was very kind to jump to the challenge of giving me a great post on Summer Nails, as a lot of you may know i am useless when it comes to doing my own nails. So Amy thank you very very much. A Disney Double

For my first ever guest post on anyone else's blog ever, I decided to write about what I know best. Movies. And given that Lilliwhiterose have previously written about Disney products, what better to write about than a pair of Disney's most recent releases on DVD that showcase both sides of what the company covers: live action and animation, namely "Wreck-It Ralph" and "Oz: The Great and Powerful".

"Wreck-It Ralph"

The story:
"Wreck-It Ralph" is essentially the "Toy Story" concept, just transferred to video games, but that isn't doing it much credit. It's a charming little film about a villain, who wants to be a hero but can't quite get it right. There's the usual Disney message of accepting who you are and all that, but it's not told in a patronising way.

Will the kids like it?
It's bright, it's got characters with funny voices and some slapstick comedy that is guaranteed to keep the little ones happy. The story is pretty simple for kids to follow and doesn't feature anything to scary. There's some mild threat near the end, but it's nothing as heavy as, say, the ending of "The Little Mermaid" or the upsetting death scene in "The Lion King" (you know the one).

Will the adults like it?
Well, my better half and I watched it with not a child in the house and had a ball with it, so that should tell you. There's something here for everyone. Fan of old school video games? You'll love and notice a ton of little cameos and nods to games of the past. If you're a Disney fan, you'll get a kick out of the character of the "Candy King", as he resembles a well known character from a Disney classic.

All in all, this is a perfectly fine entry into the Disney canon, and while their stuff doesn't have the emotional depth of the Pixar movies, it still stands up with the likes of "Tangled" and "Bolt".

"Oz: The Great and Powerful"

The story:
You've seen "The Wizard of Oz", right? Of course you have. Ever wonder how the Wizard got there in the first place? If the answer is "yes" then this might be the film for you. Or maybe not. It's pretty hit and miss. The acting is fine in some places, appaling in others. Ditto the special effects. The story is decent enough and connects a few dots with the original film (the origin of the Cowardly Lion" for example), and it's shot similar to the original film i.e, black and white in Kansas, to colour in Oz.

Will the kids like it?
Once it gets out of Kansas and into the brightness of Oz things get interesting, and the talking monkey and China Doll girl will keep their interest. I found that things got a bit heavy in the last half hour which might effect the younger ones. I wouldn't recommend it for very young kids but the over 8's would probably be fine  with it.

Will the adults like it?
It'll be one of those movies that adults will tolerate if their kids are into it, but probably won't enjoy too much.

So there you have it. Two Disney movies, one really good and one not so good. Hopefully you found this useful, and thanks for reading!

The Irish National Heritage Park Wexford.

Decided to something cultural last week so we ended up going to The National Heritage Park in Wexford. The park is situated just 3 miles from Wexford town off the Dublin (N11).  I have been going there since I was 5 and  have always thoroughly enjoyed my trips around the park both as a child and now as an Adult.

"Unique in Europe, the Irish National Heritage Park occupies 35 acres and has 16 archaeological and historical reconstructions all located in their natural settings"

The National Heritage Park is a door to the past enriched with history going back centuries. The park has different sections which are the Stone Age, Bronze Age, Celtic-Early Christen Age, Early Normans and the Vikings, these sections bring you through 9,000 years of history all in one place.

I always feel like Alice in Wonderland when I enter the gates into the park, you forget about present life and soak up the history and beauty of The Heritage Park.

When you are there you can take an audio tour/guided tour/self guided tour and there are some wonderful trails that you can go explore like the Hazel Woodland Tour or the Wet Woodland Tour and two playgrounds for the kids. They also offer the opportunity to stay in the replica of a Irish ringfort which I would love to experience for a night or two, it's something completely different but think it would be so much fun to do.

Facilities at the park include:

  • Restaurant which has some delicious food for all the family
  • Gift Shop
  • Toilets
  • Guided Tours, with a guide dressed in costume!
  • Parking for cars and coaches
  • Archery- Every Saturday booking advised.
We had our little ones trike with us and had no problems going around the park with it, and there were highchairs in the restaurant.

If you check out here you will find all the activities they do during the year from Easter egg hunts to visiting Santa.

The National Heritage Park also recently won Wexford Business Award for Wexford Tourism Provider of the Year and runner up of the Wexford Customer Service Excellence Award.

The customer service is outstanding so polite and interested in their customers which gives a personal touch to the interaction.

These little posts keep you on track.

Information Boards are along your route.

You get little rocks in the bucket and try and make your own art on the large stone.

Unfortunately we didn't get to see the Norman Castle due to renovations but I can tell you it's a sight to behold.

For more information visit The National Heritage Park website here or you can contact them on +353 (0) 53 9120733. Follow on Twitter
