Aussie Miracle Moist Shampoo

Welcome to my world of fine, damaged hair. I stopped dying my hair about 8 months ago and still growing out the old dye (why oh why do we do these things to ourselves?). So my hair isn't looking very well is what I am trying to say, and no shampoo I have tried has done anything for me..... until now!

What It Does:

It's all about the Queensland Macadamia's, it's the nut oil from these that condition and nourish your hair.

Hair Wash:

I absolutely love the smell of this shampoo it just reminds me of a summers day :-) I didn't need to use a lot to get it to lather up in my hair and easily washed away and my hair actually squeaked it was so clean after one round, which is always a good thing when you have fine hair.

I didn't blow-dry my hair as I don't during the week, I like to let it dry naturally so this really put this shampoo to the test as I end up a frizz ball and tie my hair back. Well let me tell you, there will be no more pulling back my hair, I was left with no frizz as my hair had so much moisture in it and looked healthy even the split ends didn't look so bad anymore.

Overall Verdict:

My hair was left with a lovely sheen that smelled gorgeous and looked so nourished. I will definitely buy this again and it will become a staple product in our bathroom after this.

Sanctuary Illuminating Moisture Lotion SPF15

I was in Boots the other day and saw they had 3 for 2 on travel size products, I find this brilliant when I happen on something I never tried before which means I don't have to splurge.

I have dry sensitive skin and always use moisturiser and SPF is always a must, so decided to give this a try, especially after experiencing some of Sanctuary's body care range and loving it. So let's get on with the show and let you know what I thought of this product.

"Antioxident red bush tea protects the skin against damaging free radicals, while moisturising algae and papaya extracts balance hydration levels within the skin.

Radiance-boosting particles even and illuminate skin for a dewy finish."

Face Time:

So I have the face cleansed and off I go with putting on my new moisturiser, first thing to hit me was the refreshing smell which was lovely.  That is about it after that I was disappointed, the moisturiser didn't soak in very well on my skin, and as for the dewy look it was meant to give, my face looked greasy!

In the name of fairness I decided to keep it on and just see what it could do....... After about 2 hrs I did notice that my skin looked hydrated and the dryness gone also the greasy look faded and I was left with a glow, but to me that is too long. I can't wait around for a moisturiser to look okay when I have things to do and be out and about with my little one.

Today I have noticed that my skin tone looks a bit more even so I am putting that down to the moisturiser.

Overall Verdict:

Will I continue to use this? No, i don't have time with my little one she will get impatient waiting, so maybe I am being unfair about this product and not giving it a proper go, but what doesn't work for me may work for you. Maybe I should use it as a night-time moisturiser. Now that's a thought!

Catrice: Photo Finish 18hr Liquid Foundation

I have only recently come across the make-up brand Catrice and I have to say I really like it at the affordable price. When it comes to foundation I usually spent €25 upwards but found that I didn't want to spend that much at the moment. I am totally obsessed now with Catrice now and really impressed with their quality.

What It Does:

The Photo Finish Liquid Foundation has a "Soft Focus Effect" because of it's light-reflecting pigments it makes your complexion look smooth and radiant for up to 18 hours.  It is oil free which is feels light on the skin. It is available in four shades (sand beige, rosy beige, caramel beige and deep bronze).

Let's Face Facts:

For a liquid I didn't find this runny like others I have used before so didn't feel greasy which I am putting down to being oil-free. A little goes a long way I didn't need to use much and still got complete coverage from it. I found it very easy to apply and blended in very well. I was very happy using rosy beige and found it suited me very well. I was so happy with the look I didn't use powder to finish off with. I used this on an especially hot sweaty day (yuck) and found it had staying power, however I did need to add a little after about 8hrs just to touch up.

Overall Verdict:
I really like this foundation and I won't be moving back to my old foundation which came in at €35. This Catrice foundation comes in at €6.35 and I am so impressed with the packaging of frosted glass and pump action, even the writing does not look cheap. You really should give this brand a go I think they are a gem of a find.

The Pram Doctor Wexford

I discovered the amazing concept of "The Pram Doctor" about three months ago on Facebook. So today I made a trip........

What is it?

The Pram Doctor specializes in fixing/cleaning/maintaining wanted and unwanted prams/buggies and lots more and sells them through their shop "pram garage" which is based at their home. To me I think this is a wonderful idea especially as we are now living in a recession and every bit helps when trying to save. It can be an expensive time with your first baby when you are trying to get everything for the first time and then maybe buy a little extra for grandma and granddads house so this concept is ideal. They also help sell your unwanted items.

Customer Service.

I have to praise Nina for her exceptional customer service skills, she is always quick to reply to e-mails and comments on Facebook, and is so nice to chat to that the time flew away with us when we finally met.

I initially got in touch through Facebook, I e-mailed about a stroller I saw on her website that I would like to see and she got back to me so quickly and we had a chat about what I was looking for. The directions she gave me were spot on which is always a plus (you don't want to get lost with an 18 month teething tot in the back!).

The stroller I had picked on the website unfortunately didn't fit the boot of our car but Nina was very accommodating letting me look at others and giving me a few tips on what to look for (I have a bad back so looking for something light to lift). Unfortunately this time round we didn't find what we were looking for but will certainly be checking out the website and Facebook page as both are regularly updated.

Overall Verdict:

Check The Pram Doctor out there and you may find the gem you are looking for, with up to 70% off nursery goods you can't go wrong.

Disney The Rewards I Missed Out On!

I have been a Disney fanatic since I got my fist VHS of Lady and the Tramp back in the 80's (thanks Dad) and I have never looked back since. I went from the dark side of collecting on VHS to DVD, well now that's not good enough because now we have Blu-Ray and so it began..........

Myself and the little one got our first Disney Blu-ray last Christmas from my dad as it is tradition that he buys them (notice how it not just me anymore, happy days!). I opened up our brand new Disney Blu-ray and for the first time looked at the leaflets on the left of the inside cover.... What's this?....Well lo and behold Disney Reward Points and a magic code. Well I booted to the lap top and typed in the website

How it Works:

I went through every Disney movie in the house and ended up with a table full of passwords and altogether I got over 2000 points. So now I have earned all those points it is now time to redeem them. Woohoo!

I picked a blu-ray (for the collection as you do) which was "Pocahontas" and 8 days later it arrived in through the letterbox. Happy days! So it cost 750 points to redeem that, but they have stuff from 0 points up to 1500 points so I still have enough to get more.

You can download bumper activity books for free which I think is great for the kids.

Overall Verdict:

I feel that after years of loyalty to the Disney brand that I am finally been rewarded and now I feel like a valued customer.

The website is easy to use and has a great selection to choose from, if you already have a few Disney's hanging around the house you never know you might have enough magic codes to redeem a treat for the families next movie night :-)

Disney rewards points system now has a expiration day on the points, so make sure to not leave them for too long or they will go to waste!

CHICCO Twist Chair

Well our little tester had a brilliant time checking out the Chicco Twist Chair. We have been looking for a chair since Christmas for her and couldn't find anything suitable, we had the problem of the inflatable chairs which I had a big problem with because I was petrified it was going to burst if she plonked herself into it and then the other problem was we didn't like the quality of the foam armchairs. Then my mum came across Chicco Twist!

The Low Down:

The Chicco twist is a versatile little padded chair that transforms into 3 different modes:

1. Armchair
2. Chaise Lounger
3. Relaxer

It is for toddlers 1 to 5 years of age.

The cover is removable for washing which is great because our little one loves to eat her snacks in her chair.
She reads her books and loves when you sit beside her for it. She shares it with as many teddies as she can fit on it. The one thing she does not like is if any of us touch it!

It has been great to see our little girl with her own little space and feeling like one of us. She shows it off to anyone who arrives to the house.

She figured out pretty quickly that she could put it into it's various modes.

Overall Verdict:

This was a little on the expensive side but for us it was well worth it and I think it will stand the test of time (fingers crossed). Our little one certainly gives it the thumbs up.

Varies (cheapest I saw was €54.95 the most expensive 69.95)

This was purchased at Kavanagh's Gifware Enniscorthy Co. Wexford for €69.99, you can follow them on facebook here

Sanctuary Foaming Shower Mousse

WOW heaven in a bottle for me!

Shower time is always a rush job here in the mornings because I try to have it before my little one wakes so it's not an enjoyable task for me (see how I use the word task) and would end up using her Johnson's product's for sheer handiness (not anymore I tell you). Well now I have discovered Sanctuary Foaming Shower Mousse, and it's now heaven and can't wait for my next shower, that is how much I loved it. I actually got this as a present and there is still plenty in the bottle after a couple of weeks, so it does go a long way and I would shower everyday using this.

Light-as-air lather to cleanse, soothe & soften, that's what it says on the product and it does what it says.

Shower Time:

The bottle has a pump action which is brill because it saves time on trying to squeeze a bottle with wet hands so that was a bonus. The next thing to hit me was the most fabulous smell, oh here we go I feel like i'm somewhere else.

The mousse has a blend of protective vitamin E and B5 along with sandalwood and patchouli essential oils known to ease tension and soothe.

I have very dry skin and eczema so trying to find a product for the shower can be hard for me as I find they just dry me out.  This however left my skin silky smooth, and my skin felt healthy. The beautiful fragrance stayed with me all day but not in a way that was overpowering.

Overall Verdict:

Shower time is now enjoyable and I feel good after because now I take my time and enjoy my little ritual.
This is definitely a brand I want to get my hands on, the body care range is handy enough for me to get locally, but only after visiting their website I realised they do a lot more than that, they even have a skincare range. Check them out here at

So i would recommend this to my friends and family, I even bought a hamper of the body care range for my daughters godmother and now she loves the products, and my mum and dad are starting a bit of a collection of their own (must go raid their bathroom).

€8.13 (roughly I have seen a vary on this)

I can't wait to get some more of their stuff to try out, I was eyeing up the bath float next and their candle....So hubby are you listening!

Benefit Fine-One-One

I have been raving about this to all my friends, what a brilliant product. I do not leave the house without this EVER!

It is a sheer brightening colour for cheeks and lips and is so easy to apply just one sweep along the cheek or two sweeps which I like for going out at night :-) It also has staying power all day which I never get with any blusher I have tried. The other thing to note is that it didn't dry out my skin at all. I have really dry skin so looking for anything that doesn't cake or dry out my skin even further is a bonus, and this product actually made it feel nourished.

It has 3 colours in it pink champagne, sheer watermelon and soft coral to give your look an instant lift shape and pop, once you have glided on just blend with fingertips and you are ready to face the world.

I don't usually wear anything on my lips besides a bit of vaseline, but i do love this, for my own personal taste I only use one end of the applicator which has the coral on it which makes my lips feel like satin and compliment my cheeks.

Overall Verdict:

I think this will suit paler skin so if you have pale skin.....

Buy Buy Buy! Love it! Well done Benefit.

4/5 (dropped 1 because i think it is only for pale skin)

As a mammy this product is a must with how quick and effortless it is.

The packaging is absolutely adorable which is always a bonus especially when you spend a fair bit of money on it.

Afraid of the Dreaded Bath

Well lo and behold our little one has decided to take a fear of the bath! Our little girl used to love taking a dip in the bath, so much so that it was hard to get her out of it without her kicking up stink.

Now we have tried new toys for the bath, and my own fave which was the puppets made out of socks. After all that we still had screaming and shaking so we don't push it anymore.

We tried using a bucket in the middle of floor and I washed all her ducky's in it and gave them all the attention, and still nothing she just kept running in and out to see if I had put the water away (smart girl).

My husband then tried to wash her in the kitchen basin (just her feet) Nope! more screaming.....

So it has come down to this...... damp face cloths to keep her clean and that involves me running around the house after her because she won't stand near the sink for me to do it.

The one thing I was surprised at was her Grandaddy brought her swimming and after 15 mins he had her swimming in the pool. What gives, what is your secret Dad? Well I just don't know but he did have half the kids in pool give him his attention which was gas, they just kept coming up and smiling at him waiting for him to talk to them. Must be his adorable kind face, and soothing voice and the fact he so relaxed.

Well we will keep going and hopefully she will get back into the bath (sooner rather than later please).

If you have any tips for me please please let me know, I will try anything.

NYC Color Wheel Mosaic Face Powder

NYC Color Wheel Mosaic Face Powder (in pink cheek glow)

Well where to begin.... I absolutely love blusher I think it gives that young glow to any skin.

I found this to be very light and had to be a little heavy handed to get it the blush on the brush (hey that rhymes).

I did like the end result and for the price it's definitely one to have on hand (or in the handbag).

It retails at €3.49 which I think is great, would I buy this again? I would if I was in between pay cheques.

RATE: 3/5

Share a Coke

I discovered today that Coca Cola are inviting us to "Share a Coke" Um intriguing until I discovered that my name was no where to be seen on the new Coke bottles. Their bottles have swapped the iconic label for the top 150 Irish names (of course that's why mine isn't there, nor is my daughters name)

Now supposedly if i get to either Dublin, Cork or Galway they will have special vending machines so YAY I get to put my chosen name on the bottle. So I will have to get my sister-in-law to keep an eye out in Galway to get it done for me (I love you sis x)

Well I hope whoever you may be can get your name on the Coca Cola bottle and enjoy either to relish drinking it or to display for years to come on your mantle piece :-)

Happy 2nd Birthday Glossybox (May '13)

I discovered Glossybox back in February and i am so delighted my hubby actually listened and subscribed me!

My May box arrived and this one is my favorite so far. This months Glossybox was to celebrate their 2nd birthday so I feel some real effort was applied.

In my box I got Caudalie Divine Oil, I have never heard of the brand but went ahead and tried it out. You can use it on your body, face, nails, use as a massage oil or even pop it in the bath.
I used it on my nails first and I was delighted with the results. My cuticles looked healthier and my nails looked smooth and healthy. I tried it in my hair and loved the results too and it smells divine. You only need to use a little as it goes a long way.

Next up Bellapierre Super Lip Gloss.
I'm not a fan of lip gloss never have been, but this has turned me! I got the Raspberry lip gloss in my box, saw the colour and thought no way, but doesn't go on as dark as it looks. The gloss is so silky and smooth and lasts for a long time. Bonus was it was a full size product in the box.

Now on to my favourite product in the box..... L'Occtine En Provence Angelica Hydration Cream.
This is gorgeous, love the texture of the cream and the smell. It moisturised my very dry skin and gave a gorgeous glow to my skin.

Jelly Pong Pong Fairy Lashes Mascara. I love mascara so I was disappointed after applying this when my eyes started getting teary and a little bit red so had to take it off. Pity because now I have a mascara that I can't wear and would have been perfect for a day look.

Beautiful Movements Cosmetics Prime & Create Mixing Medium.
I tried using this as a primer but prefer my benefit primer over this, so this is going to my niece to see how she likes it.

Their was also a bonus of Glossybox's own little pocket emery boards which are always handy for the handbag!

Well done Glossybox you have outdone yourselves this month.

Please let me know what you thought of your glossybox this month I would love to know.

A Bit About Me

Hi Everyone,

Just a bit about myself and to let you know what I would like this blog to be.

I am a 29 year old Irish mammy to the most wonderful 18 month girl, and married to a wonderful man. I decided to start this just to give me something to do outside the family life and day.

I would like to blog about babies, films, fashion and make-up (basically anything else that might be on my mind).

Hope you enjoy!
